Just because of this spice
Kat sini harga dia $6k untuk 1 kilogram! $6000 ye bukan $600 atau $60, hahaha.
(but mana ada orang beli 1kg kan, unless they are really rich lah weh and hari2 mandi air saffron ).
And then kat kedai yang I pergi tadi, they didn’t have the saffron at the usual spices aisle, diaorang simpan under the counter sebab tak nak orang curi, hehehehe…
I had to ask them if they have saffron, baru diaorang keluarkan for me.
They sell it in a pre-pack 1g container which cost $6 so if you calculate memang cecah 6 ribu dollars lah sekilo.
Bila fikir like that, nak pitam sekejap masa nak membayar tadi, hahahaha.
So Miss 8 and Miss 13 pun started counting each strand of saffron they found in their rice..
“1 strand is worth 10 cents so 10 cents, 20 cents, 30 cents, 40 cents.. Hey Mum, I’m rich cos I’ve got 40 cents worth of saffron in my rice!”
I wanted to make chicken briyani tu yang kena beli the saffron sebab my saffron stock dah lama habis.
Selama ni I malas, I pakai kunyit aje but kali ni nak lah try buat authentic briyani so tu yang cari saffron tadi.
I made chicken pakhi briyani tadi.
I tengok this video on youtube on how to make it. This chef is really awesome sebab he is so enthusiastic and engaging. Baru lah I tau (lepas tengok video dia) yang ada 2 version nak masak chicken briyani ni.
I use the version where you have to pre cook the chicken and the rice separately first, and then layer them in a pot and continue the cooking process by baking it in the oven.
(I guna this version sebab gara2 nak jugak guna the oven hari ni, hahaha.)
But my briyani tak pedas langsung sebab nak bagi the girls makan kan.
Tu yang kena makan dengan the paneer tikka masala which was hot. I beli the paneer tikka masala yang instant aje. It comes in a packet and just heat it in the microwave to serve.
We also had it with cucumber and mint raita, telur masin and poppadom.
But I tambah cashew nuts in between the layers so jadi lagi sedap.
My plate only had 4 strands of saffron tadi, hehehe…
