Our very first….

I was in the garden today picking the snake beans when I saw something amazingly wonderful!

Cepat2 I called The Other Half to come outside and bring the camera along with him.

He said, “this better be good…

Hehehehe, of course lah! Smile.

This was what I saw hiding behind all the green leaves.

Our very first kacang botol or angle bean or winged bean.

I had to do a double-take when I saw it just to reaffirm what I was seeing sebab sungguh lah tak percaya you.

Berbulan2 we all menanti benda ni nak berbunga and berbuah macam menunggu duit setempayan jatuh ke riba aje!

I started tanam dia early December tahun lepas, 5 bulan baru keluar 1 buah, tak ke lama tu namanya.

Kacang panjang yang I tanam berbulan2 lambat dari dia pun dah selamat I petik and masak berkali2.

And then suddenly The Other Half said, “Oh yeah, look at their purple flowers.”

Sangat lah gumbiranya hati ku when I could see so many purple flowers around.

And he said, “And you thought they weren’t going to flower and fruit. Ye of little faith!

Heeeeee….

But I tak petik lagi lah, I want it to grow a bit more sebab kecik lagi. So tadi I cuma guna kacang panjang aje lah for dinner.

Miss 8 is suffering from cough and cold again so tadi I masak chicken soup for dinner.

Miss 8 had it with rice, I had it with rice and ulam kacang panjang and sambal ikan bilis leftover.

While The Other Half and Miss 13 had the chicken soup with grilled cheesy toasts.

He said it’s really lovely to have it like that.

Takpelah, I would rather have it with rice and sambal, lagi menyelerakan untuk anak tekak Jawa I ni, hehehe….

woaaahhhh... kacang botol sudah tumbuh di perth...!! kudos to u both... buat kerabu kacang botol sedap tu..

tetiba nak makan nasi putih dgn kacang botol pulak ni.. cicah budu or sambal tempoyak + cili tumbuk pon sedap kacang tu... huwaaaa, mana nak cari malam2 ni..

jomm nak join mulan makan nasi dgn budu or sambal tempoyak..ulam dia dgn kacang botol. Sedappp ooolala.

KAcang botol biasanya hidup lama dan tak berhenti2 berbuah...kalau kat msia lah, tak tau kalau di perth.

sedapnya sambal makan dgn kacang panjang fresh lagi.

Kenapalah pokok kacang botol tu lambat sgt nk berbuah ye? Sedap kan kalau buat ulam. Kalau x sihat mesti rasa nk mkn jenis2 sup aje kan. Benda lain x lalu

Kak LG, awak ni bertangan tumbuh-tumbuhanlah. Hensem aje pokok2, sayur2, buah2 tuh. Lepas ni bela ayam pulak..ikan keli..

LG, tak sangka kacang botol berbuah pun can make ppl happy and excited kan..
all the lil' things in life, sometimes we tend to overlook sbb 24 x 7 asyik dok busy mengejar masa memanjang..
emm need to stop and look around once in awhile.. idok lerr asyik stress manjang ..hehehe..

Dik LG,

Simpan buah pertama tu untuk di jadikan benih. Itu kira pokok yang dah berjaya menyesuaikan diri dengan cuaca di sana. Perhaps kalau simpan buah pertama tu sebagai benih, tahun depan InsyaAllah akan berbuah awal.

kacang botol ni memang lambat berbuah..tapi sekali dia dah berbuah jenuh u makan nanti LG..dia akan berbuah lebat dan terus berbuah sampai pokok tu mati..jangan petik buah yang cantik..biar dia tua sampai kering..simpan buah kering tu untuk benih nanti..

saya kan tak pernah makan budu or sambal tempoyak or cencaluk sbb memang dari kecik tak biasa so sampai besar tak makan.
Nasib baik sambal belacan saya makan :-).
Mak saya pun kata yg pokok dia ni akan hidup bertahun2 so hopefully tak mati lah masa Winter nanti.

Bila I baca online, pokok kacang botol ni memang banyak 'songeh' sikit, kena everything is right, baru dia berbunga and berbuah, tu yg 5 bulan baru dpt tengok buah dia :-).

Hubby I memang nak bela ayam tp Council regulations tak membenarkan bela ayam kat kawasan perumahan so terkubur hasrat hati nak makan telur ayam fresh, hehehe

tu lah, berbulan2 we all tunggu sampai dah nak nearly give up and cabut the pokok, hehehe...

I think memang sometimes bila life is so busy, we tend to overlook the simple things in life kan mcm the first flower and the first buah, hehehe.
I hope that won't be the only buah lah! :-D

good idea! I should let that kacang tua kat pokok so boleh harvest the seeds. I pun memang dah takde simpanan biji dia lagi.

Banyak jugak yg we all tanam tak menjadi but Alhamdulillah, kacang botol kegemaran I ni berbuah juga akhirnya :-).

People say all parts of the kacang botol plant ni boleh dimakan. Bunga tu orang buat salad/ ulam/ food dye. But I tak pernah cuba lagi, heheheh.

thanks for the tips. Mak I pun kata yg pokok kacang botol ni akan hidup bertahun2 and once dah buah, wont stop fruiting. Tak sbaar nak tunggu buah dia penuh satu pokok! :-)
