I told you that I’m not that good a cook…
I had one of those ‘everything was a disaster’ day yesterday.
I started the day feeling so enthusiastic to start making a lot of things. I had already a list of things I was gonna make in my mind.
(Kalah list orang berjualan kat pasar ramadhan! hehehehe).
Where should I start with the disaster ye? '
First I made kuih kasui which for me is such a challenging kuih to make.
I used recipe kasui Cik Mat which everyone yang buat kata sedap and menjadi so obviously lah I pun surenya akan boleh buat.
(Recipe Cik Mat memang akan sentiasa menjadi, trust me!)
That’s where everything started going wrong…
I takde air abu so I tak guna and I pandai2 aje letak kapur kasut (limestone paste) that I diluted into air kapur and I used tapioca starch which I think is the same as tepung ubi kan.
And then I pun kukus lah…. Selepas 2 jam mengukus, still banyak lagi liquid on top of the kasui (even though I dah balut lid kukusan itu dengan towel).
Pastu, I tak larat nak tunggu dah, I matikan api and then terus sambung project menge’mop’ air kat atas kasui tu. Punyalah banyak paper towel I guna untuk mengemop the liquid on top (1 pokok agaknya I guna, hikhikhik…).
(Cik Mat buat cantik aje, I buat memang hodoh giler, hahaha).
There must be something I did wrong but tak sempat nak kaji selidik semalam…
Oh yeah, at the same time the kasui was steaming, I tried my hand at making kuih ros/ kuih goyang.
That was another disaster!
First, the batter wouldn’t stick onto the acuan tembaga. Pastu, bila dah stuck to it, tak nak tanggal pulaknya! Jenuhlah I buat macam2!
I’ve followed all the rules and the right steps nak buat kuih ros but still tak jadi.
Lepas 4-5 kali try celup and goreng, I gave up and threw the batter down the sink!
(Nasib baik lah I cuma buat 1/4 adunan aje, hehehe).
The third disaster came in the form of brownies…
I melted chocolate and butter straight onto the stovetop (which I’ve done a few times before and it melted perfectly).
But this time, I sort of terlupa about it and left it unchecked on the stove top.
Tiba2, I terbau benda burnt!
Muahahahahaha…my choc+butter mixture was partly burnt!
Undeterred and unnerved, I tried to salvage it and still added all the other ingredients into it sebab I had to make something for buka puasa.
The verdict by The Little Misses, “It tastes ok Mum but with just a slight taste of burnt bits.”
Hahahahaha…..
Actually, ada 2 other minor disasters after that but I better not list them down sebab nanti orang ingat I ni memang a walking disaster in the kitchen pulaknya, hikhikhikhik….
The Other Half said, “Poor you…Do you want to go out for dinner?”
I said to him, “Nope! I’m going to persevere and prove to you guys that I will win today by hook or by crook!”
I spent a lot of time in the kitchen semalam but there’s nothing to show …
Somehow, at Iftar and dinner time, I still managed to serve kasui (yang telah dimop but still very edible and sedap), choc brownies (with burnt bits), chicken and ricotta puff parcels (the only ones that turned out really good because they were shop bought, muahahaha) and pizza (which nearly didn’t rise).
And this was how I felt like last night after a day of kitchen disaster.

Kesiannya u sis. Penat woo dok kat dapor ni. Lagi frust kalau masakan tak jadik. I think its one of those days je kot. Hari esok sure ok punyalah. Take care sis.psstt i nak balik ijok kejap lagi. Berbuka dgn in laws, insyallah. Nak kirim apa? Hehehe

it happened to me.. i nak buat creme caramel..i start the kukus process from 4pm tunggu punya tunggu sampai 8pm...still cair jugak.. nak buang sayang..last2 i tambah serbuk agar2...at the end i got agar-agar instead of pudding :p
gelak je tengok kangaroo yang pingsan tu...hihi...sesuai dgn n3.
Ala..biasa le LG, semua org pernah mengalami masalah ni bila di dapur...hangus2 sikit tak pe...anggaplah ianya caramel.
Muahaha... jadi kangaroo terus! Takpe, kalau hari-hari menjai, tak challenging la tak? ;)
huhu..tak boleh nak kata apa, cuma boleh kata kesiann kat u LG..
loh!!! kangaroo ke??? ingat tikus tadi!!! dah euw euw dah kat sini!!! (dasar penggeli!!!)
anyway, tu sajer jer tue, bump start utk hasil yg lebih mengkagumkan di hari kemudian.... selamat berpuasa!!!!
samalah kita kak min. smlm pun sy buat rv. tp x puas hati. bake lg sebiji sampai x tido smlm. sampai hr ni bdn letih lg mata pun kalau pejam mahunya lena.
tidakkkkkk....hahaha...sekali sekali mesti ada satu hari yg mcm2 jadi & mcm x jadi....
Hahaha...hajat besar..tapi tak pe yg penting semangat tak pudar..
Tak leh nak imagine camne kasui tu kena mop :D.
oh my... but it is good to know I am not alone in the "day of kitchen disasters" department! I think everyone has one of those, and to those who insist they don't they're probably just in extreme denial!! LOL

saye selalu juge wat kasui tuk makan2, mase yg di amik tuk kukus hnyalah 45 minit je, n saye guna kapur juge.... kueh saye lepas masak, mmg banjir juge la, tp, setelah dianginkan dan disejukkan, ianye menjadik perfectooo...!! hehe... saje nk share pengalaman mmbuat kasui...=P...

Tu lah nya, recipe Cik Mat ni pun kata kukus 45 minit aje so tu yg I heran mcm mana lah I punya kuih ni tak masak2 dah nak dekat 2 jam. I pun tak tau where I went worng. Pastu bila dah sejuk, dia jadi keras sbb terovercooked :-(.
