When two worlds collide, either hancus terus or it brings out the best of both worlds kaaannn…….
When The Other Half and I first got married, we were still students so weren’t rolling in money..
Well, sekarang pun bukannya rolling in money but much much better dari dulu lah, hehehehe..
So, memang tiap2 malam we all akan masak our own dinner together2.
Ye lah, orang cakap, spending time together in the kitchen amat bagus untuk mengeratkan kasih sayang kan, hahahaha….
Masa tu lah we all belajar what we like and dont like to eat and I would introduce him to Malay food and he would introduce me to food that he grew up with.
At that time, the OZ are already familiar with Asian/ Chinese food but I guess malay food ni lain sikit lah kan.
Masa tu lah dia mula berkenalan dengan nasi impit, sate, rendang, nasi lemak, kari, telur masin, sambal ikan bilis and also sambal sotong, hehehe….
Some he falls in love with like nasi lemak, rendang ayam, sate, telur masin, sambal ikan bilis, apam gula melaka, sagu gula melaka and some he doesn’t like that much like nasi impit/ketupat, sayur lodeh, sambal belacan……
And sampai sekarang pun, I’m still introducing new asian/ malay food to the family….
Hari tu I buat nagasari tapi nagasari perantau tak guna daun pisang, cuma kukus dlm loyang aje…
I love nagasari sebab rasa dia yg agak blandish itu.
The Other Half saw it and tried it and he didn’t say anything…
When I asked him how was the taste, he said, “it’s really awful! As awful as that tapai I had at that wedding!”
I guess he can cross nagasari out in his list of favourite food .
For me the nagasari tasted delicious! hehehehehehe…..
And tadi, I buat apam pisang and he saw it and wanted to try it. Obviously, he’s still willing and not afraid to try my kuih after the nagasari disaster last week…
I said to him, “you can try it but don’t blame me if you don’t like it .”
He tried it and liked it a lot, hehehehe……
Actually, I’m quite lucky sebab he’s willing to try all the kuih muih and lauk pauk yang I masak and he likes/loves most of them instead of only wanting meat and 3 veg for his dinner every night.
And he’s lucky sebab I bukan jenis yang kena makan nasi hari2, hehehehe….
And he says he’s lucky sebab I can cook a lot of nice food….
Like last night’s and tonight’s dinner….
Dua2 mendapat cop jempul dari dia……. (cop jempul ni bahasa jawa ye….)
I buat kuey teow goreng malam tadi.
Kenalah dengan tekak dia.
But for the girls I buat beef schnitzel with croissants sebab tak cukup rice noodles untuk 4 orang makan, hahaha….
Limau tu dari pokok depan rumah, sangat lah sukanya we all.
And malam ni pulak, I buat chicken parmigiana with bolognese sauce, mixed traffic light salsa and roast potatoes in rosemary and garlic.
I guna ready made crumbed chicken breast. Then I dollop some bolognese sauce on top of the cooked chicken breast, shred some colby on it and grill it until the cheese has melted.
Yang ini mendapat cop jempul dari semua orang, hehehehe
