Woke up this morning with thunders and heavy rain.
But it was hot still and very very humid.
Sebijik rasa macam duduk kat Malaysia.
Even the girls were saying that it feels exactly like Msia, so cool and nice inside the shops and then blasted with humid heat as soon as you come out of the shops.
Mana tak nya, the temperature got up to around 37C+ tadi and the humidity was around 50% so memang sebijik macam duduk kat Malaysia lah kan.
Lepas mandi pun still berpeluh2!
It’s going to be like this for the next few days.
Adalah yang berkubang dalam bath tub the whole day nanti ni, hehehe…
And to make it more confusing for me, when I was in the shop, I saw this…
I was thinking to myself, “it’s not English but I can read it… That’s right, it’s in Malay. Hang on! Where the heck am I? A few minutes ago I was still in Perth…. ”
hahahahahaha…..
Jauh merantau pemadam ni kan, heeeeee….
And since dah ala2 kat Malaysia, tekak pun rasa macam nak makan things M’sian jugak lah kan….
Malam tadi I was a bit busy making something for my Ustazah until The Other Half came to the table and said, “Can I try this now?”
I was like, “Erk, they are not cooked yet, you can’t eat them.”
He said, “But you gave them to me earlier.”
I then told him “I gave you the filling earlier. These ones have got skins on them and not cooked yet.”
Dia nak makan kuih bom mentah!
Ish, Mat Saleh ni, memang lah, hahahaha….
So, since dah malam and I malas nak menggoreng, I said to him that I will make him something else (that I was also doing at the same time).
I love Ang Koo which is a famous chinese kueh.
Setiap kali balik M’sia, mesti I akan cari and beli.
But I terrajin this time. I’ve already made the yellow mung bean filling untuk isi kat kuih bom tu so I pun buat lah kulit ang koo ni sekali.
So, I made a few for us to have as after dinner snack malam tadi.
I even went to the asian shop to search for the ang koo mould! But I have no idea what the chinese character meant.
Setelah dibulat2 kan and di isi dengan filling, terus dimampatkan ke dalam the mould.
and then after a few hard ketuk on the table, they came out so nicely.
And selepas dikukus…
They are supposed to be bright red macam red velvet tu tapi I tak sanggup nak letak too much red colouring so kaler my ang koo ala2 pink ikan salmon lah kan, hehehe.
I made 6 ketul last night.
I makan 2 while that Mat Saleh makan 4.
The kuih bom pulak, I buat 36 biji but I cuma simpan 11 aje untuk we all, I gave the rest to friends.
I cuma makan 3 biji aje…teka lah sape makan lagi 8 tu!
Anak and bapak sama aje, muka dua2 Mat Saleh tapi tekak melayu, hehehehe…

blu4sky,

Emaa,
Salam kenal. Ha'ah, ada mcm2 recipe kulit kuih angkoo ni. Recipe yg saya guna dia guna campuran tepung pulut and keledek n sikit tepung beras.
Latifah,
I slalu buat kuih muih yang I suka makan so nak tak nak diaorang pun terpaksa biasakan diri dgn kuih muih yg I slalu buat tu lah. Dah lama2, diaorang pun turut suka, hehehe
Adda,
kuih ang koo ni memang sedap, kat tekak I lah :-)
Cik Mat,
Salam. Woit, habislah kena sumpah 7 keturunan kalau you derhakakan recipe kueh ang koo yg marbeles ni, hahaha
Aida,
first time I cuba buat kuih angkoo ni, Alhamdulillah menjadi, hehehe. Slalunya, I tunggu balik Msia, baru makan :-)
Siti Nadira,
Salm singgah ke sini. I memang dah lama berniat nak buat ang koo ni tapi tu lah, asik terlupa nak beli mould. Bila dah beli, tu yg terus buat :-)
Blog anak mama,
angkoo tu filling dia boleh red bean atau peanuts atau kacang hijau yg dah buang kulit tu. Chewy dia memang mcm koci tapi koci dibalut santan, yg ni tak so rasa mcm healthy sikit lah, hehehe
KOG,
I've trained them only to kuih muih yang I minat aje, hahaha.
Salam kak
ya Allah, rajinnya akak buat kuih ang koo tu, nampak sangat la menyelerakan!!
Saya pun rajin gak, rajin beli & makan aje.. haha.. kuih ang koo tu susah sikit nak carik sebab dia asalnya kuih kaum baba & nyonya kan.. nasib baik ada makcik kat sini yang jual.. hehe
Apa pun akak memang terbaik la, rajin betul buat kuih2 tradisi ni!
kelakar je baca dialog akak ngn TOH yg dia mintak nk mkn kuih bom tu heheh... yelah kan isi nyer udah di msk, itu psl blh mkn tp bile dh bt inti tak blh mkn lg...
diaorang lyn je ek sume kuih2 melayu..bgs betul lah kak, kalu tak kang akak la yg ngences asik mkn kuih mat salleh je
filling dia tu LG kisar ke? awat dia camtu..tak pernah pun makan ang koo tu...
Ayu,
Salam. I pun dulu mcm you, rajin beli dan makan. Tapi tu masa kat Msia lah sbb ada jugak terjumpa yg halal. Bila dah menetap kat sini, cuma dpt makan bila balik Msia sekali sekala itu. Sedih sgt2 you bila kempunan, cuma dpt kesat air liur aje, hahahaha.
Tu yg cuba jugak rajinkan diri buat and Alhamdulillah, skrg boleh makan dgn sebanyak mungkin, heeee
Dana,
dia ingat magic agaknya, baru gentel2 balut filling, dah boleh makan, hehehe.
Bukan semua kuih melayu yg diaorang layan tp so far, semua yg I suka makan, diaorang suka jugak :-)
Kniedaz,
filling dia tu guna kacang hijau yg dah takde kulit so tu kaler dia kuning. Pastu, bila dah rebus, memang kena kisar bagi halus sebelum masak lagi dgn gula, santan and minyak sikit sekali lagi untuk bagi kering. Leceh tapi sedap :-D
Akak, pagi ni, disebabkan posting akak, saya beli kuih ang koo kat makcik tu.. hehe.. dari semalam dok ingat kuih tu lepas baca posting akak :)
Ayu,
hikhikhik...nasib baik ada makcik jual kuih angkoo kan. Or else, kenalah you buat sendiri, hehe.
i love that pink kuih so much!! can you share the recipe pleaseee....
Wah LG,
sungguh rajin org jawa ini.
cute miut kuih LG buat
mat saleh tekak melayu, cik Yong suka!
iekaz,
I used the recipe from this blog http://bakingoncloud9.blogspot.com.au/2011/10/purple-sweet-potato-ang-ku-kueh.html but I guna orang sweet potato. Ada banyak variations on how to make the ang koo skin you can find on the net. Some put only glutinous flour, some has more sweet potato than flour so I guess you just have to adjust according to how chewy you want yours to be :-).
Good luck!
Yong,
Kena rajin buat sendiri sebab tak jumpa cari yg halal kat sini. Tak sangka pulak Mat Saleh and minah saleh tu minat jugak :-)
