Another long garden update

While The Little Misses kat Sunday school tadi, The Other Half and I pergi tabur duit kat Bunnings. Balik dari Sunday school, The Other Half pergi Bunnings again to buy some more stuff. The first trip, we spent $250, the second trip, we spent another $200!

Boleh beli loads and loads of kitchen gadgets with that money kan!

Hahahahaha……

So, what did we buy….

IMG_3835

Some more plants (except the lily yang we all beli a few months ago kot).

IMG_3839

Another blueberry but a different variety this time and redcurrant.

IMG_3842

Pennywort which if I’m not mistaken is pegaga or adik beradik pegaga. I suka makan pegaga in ulam, campur dengan kerabu. Yumm!

IMG_3837

2 hydrangea plants. A pink one and a bluish purple one.

And we bought a new water tank to collect the used water from the airconditioning unit so we can recycle the water on the garden. Lupa pulak nak ambik gambar. I’ll take a photo one day so you can see what I mean by it.

And we also bought an outdoor plastic sink with a hole underneath connected to a hose so we can recycle the water too.

IMG_3851

Australia ni negara yang sangat kering, memang budak2 dari kecik dah di ajar kat sekolah supaya jadi water-wise so we are trying to be waterwise jugak lah, trying to recycle the water we use.

We are now trying to figure out how to recycle the washine machine water without creating too much inconvenience for me as the laundry person.

IMG_3854

The hydrangeas after we’ve repotted them.

IMG_3855

The hydrangea flowers up close.

And we spent some more money buying some more sleepers to make a new raised garden bed.

IMG_3860

My D.I.Y. guy, hehehe.

IMG_3875

The new garden bed on the furthest left of the picture. We are thinking of planting the berries here and maybe the lettuces and herbs.

IMG_3878

The other vege patch yang sekarang ni tengah penuh dengan so many vegetables.

Dapatlah I sedekah kat kawan2 masjid tadi some serai, daun kesum, daun limau purut, timun and silverbeets. Lepas ni, once the other plants start to fruit, bolehlah sedekah sayur lain kan.

Serai and daun limau purut mahal giler kat sini, sebatang serai tu about $1 kot and a few helai daun limau purut around $2 so memang ramai lah yang nak sayur2 tadi, hehehe.

Now, some photos of the tomatoes (again).

Our yellow cherry tomatoes baru nak masak.

IMG_3844

the red cherry tomatoes pun dah nak masak.

IMG_3845

Tengoklah pokok tomato ni, sangat sarat berbuah, I yang tak larat tengok, hehehe.

IMG_3864

IMG_3870

I think it’s the big round variety.

Another one yang tengah sarat jugak, sampai meliuk mentuk the dahan sebab we all tak ikat, hehehe.

IMG_3865

Lepas ni, once semua dah masak, memang hari2lah makan tomato Smile.

And our curry plant.

IMG_3873

Cepatlah membesar pokok kari. Sebab jiran baru sebelah rumah we all yang akan masuk in January will be Indians. Boleh lah dia cium bau pokok kari we all hari2, hehehe Winking smile.

And now the front garden….

(I told you it’s a long update this time…)

IMG_3886

IMG_3881

Our roses are finally growing normally again, Alhamdulillah…

IMG_3883

IMG_3884

Kat belakang tu is our pokok limau purut. Dah besar dia sekarang. We bought it in Jan 2006 when we first moved to Perth and at that time cuma ada 10 helai daun aje kot, hehehe. Sekarang dah ada beribu2 daun! Winking smile

But, lepas I ambik gambar ni tadi, we made some minor changes to the layout of the potted plants. But I malas dah nak ambik gambar the new arrangement.

Esok2 lah ye I ambik….

We spent 3+ hours in the garden tadi. Memang penat gilerssss!

Mulan,
memang fresh from kebun, hahaha. My friends tadi kata macam pasar tani aje kat masjid tadi sbb the sayur2 yg I bawak :-).
My chinese neighbour baru aje sewakan rumah dia ke this Indian family you, you terlewat lah, hahaha.

Kak Kasih,
Serai memang mahal kat sini, nasib baik senang nak tanam so tu yg I tanam serai banyak2 :-).
Winter kat sini tak sejuk sgt, takde snow so daun limau purut tu tak gugur.

Shiera,
we all dah makan the yellow and red cherry tomatoes tadi, sangat sweeeeeet n juicy :-)

Rozita,
bila Spring n Summer, memang meriah kebun we all sbb sunshine every day kan :-)

Kak Es,
Bila tengok the garden, memang happy gilers spend 3 jam kat situ :-). Hydrangea kat Perth ni berbunga ikut seasons, maybe sama kot dgn yg kat Msia :-)

Cik Mat,
Memang betul tu, kaler bunga hydrangea ni ikut pH of the soil. Petua orang2 tua Mat Saleh utk bagi bunga tu tukar kaler is to pee/kencing on the soil, gerenti dia tukar kaler. Tak kuasa I nak buat, hahaha.

Aida,
we all beli rumah ni pun sebab ada tanah utk buat vege patches. Masa Spring n Summer ni lah memang best nak menanam segala tanaman yg slalu jumpa kat Msia. Masa Winter nanti, semua tu tak hidup, hehehe.

Blu4sky,
We all nak guna the washing machine water utk water the lawn but lawn kat depan n belakang. Laundry kat tepi, tu yg tgh nak fikir mcm mana nak collect the water without me having to do a lot of work, hehehe.

MamaTiaMia,
seronok kan gardening ni especially nampak the hasil :-).

Salmia,
Salam. We all konon2nya nak tanam all the berries yang the girls can petik straight fr the trees mcm I masa kecik2 dulu petik buah jambu, rambutan, belimbing kat pokok lah, hehehe.
Garden beds tu we all cuma letak kayu papan around it aje untuk tinggikan dia sikit. Pastu, we all fill it up dengan compost, tanah, fertiliser, more tanah and then mulch.
