What I did with the harvest from the garden

For the past 2 days, I made an extra effort untuk bangun lebih awal to spend time in the garden early before the sun gets too hot.

(Subuh sangat lah awalnya sekarang so tu yang lepas subuh memang tidur balik. Pastu dah lah tengah cuti sekolah, tu yang lagi malas nak bangun awal, heeee….).

So, pagi tadi I started with planting all the broccoli and cabbage seedlings, the new tomato seedlings (which hopefully will be fruiting by the time our present lot of tomatoes die) and some bok choy seedlings.

Pastu watering lah pulak. I malas giler pagi tadi, I just used the hose and trigger system aje instead of guna the water from the rain water tank, hehehehe…

Then weeding and cutting the grass and harvesting the veges.

Dapat lah jugak I berexercise goyang2 kan lemak tepu in the body ni Smile with tongue out.

Dah lepas harvest the veges, kenalah buat something with the veges.

I made chargrilled eggplants and chargrilled capsicums.

Capsicum ni I grilled in the oven sampai the skin is blistered and black.

Then, let it cool before peeling the skins off. Peeling the skins off ni memang kerja yang leceh but it makes the capsicum tastes so much nicer with no hard texture.

Inilah rupa capsicum yang telah di peel. I used half of it to make pesto and the other half stored in the freezer.

And then I made chargrilled eggplants on the stove top.

Just slice the eggplants thickly and spray with olive oil on both sides and grill them using a grill pan.

Sedap dimakan macam tu aje or with pasta or any mediterranean dishes. I guess kalau nak guna terung ni untuk sambal terung pun ada ngam jugak lah!

And then I made tomato pesto using this recipe. Tapi I tak guna chilli sebab nanti kang tak makan pulak Miss 12 tu. And I used my own homemade oven-dried tomatoes aje, hehehe.

Rasa seronok sangat buat pesto ni tadi sebab guna capsicum, tomatoes and basil from our very own backyard.

Sekilas pandang, macam sambal ayam penyet aje kan, hahaha.

Then, I used some of the pesto to make fettucine with pesto and grilled seafood mix.

I cooked the fettucine first, then drain it and mix it with the pesto. Add a bit of oil and the pasta water into the pan to make it easier to mix. At the last minute, pour a bit of cream and mix well.

See, I tabur the grilled eggplants on the cooked pasta as garnish Smile.

The seafood mix tu I just gaul dengan dried garlic granules, dried mixed herbs and salt before grilling them on the stove top on medium high heat.

Everyone kata sangat lah sedap nya the pesto tonite, hahahaha…..

Pastu (either I banyak sangat masa hari ni or I tersangat rajinnya hari ni, hikhikhik), I baked a sponge cake (alah, from cake mix aje, heeee) and pear tarte tatin.

My pear tarte tatin using this recipe (but I punya tak secantik their photo lah, heeeee). Makan pulak dengan a big dollop of whipped fresh cream, sangatlah nikmatnya!

Esok, I kena masuk garden lagi awal lah nampak gayanya untuk buang balik lemak yang dah terkumpul after eating that tarte tatin n cream itu!!!!!!!!!!!!!

kalau tak jumpa pine nuts, you boleh guna cashew or macadamia or almond. Banyak recipe pesto kat Taste website tu yg guna other types of nuts. Good luck ye!

We love roasted capsicum as well :-). I haven't tried apple version, one day nak kena cuba jugak lah but sure nya apple pie lagi sedap kan? :-)
