Love you forever for a biscuit?

The other day, The Other Half said to me, “do you know what I would really really like if you were so nice to make for me? This biscuit with raspberry jam filling and then icing on top and jelly sprinkles on top of this icing. Mum used to make them when I was small and I loved them. The taste is just heaven!

I said to him, “you mean Belgian biscuit, the spicy one?” He said, “yes! that’s the one. I’ll love you forever and ever if you can make them for me.

(He’s very easily pleased. Bake cookies untuk dia, dia dah boleh sayang kita forever. But susah pulak kan nanti kalau ada orang lain yang pandai2 aka mengada2 nak bake cookies for him jugak! hehehehe ;-)).

So, sebab I want him to love me forever and ever, I pun baked him the Belgian biscuits, hahahaha.

Why are they called Belgian biscuits? I don’t know and I malas nak google the answer. Kalau you all rajin, you all google lah sendiri ye for the reason behind that name.

Kalau you all nak recipe, I guna the recipe from here. I have no idea authentic ke tak recipe ni but from memek muka The Other Half  when he ate them, obviously they tasted really good. But instead of guna coloured sugar to sprinkle on top of the icing, I guna grape jelly crystals sebab The Other Half kata Mak dia buat dulu guna jelly crystals. And since wife dia ni tak nak kalah dengan Mak Mertua, I sanggup pi cari jelly crystals kat kedai grocery halal tadi, hehehehe. And sanggup The Other Half tolong I tabur the crystals on the biscuits sebab dia yang beria2 nak makan biskut ni kan :-).

Terubat rindu The Other Half nak makan biskut kesukaan dia ni :-). Makin bertambah gemuk lah laki I lepas ni sebab bini dia dah pandai buat jam doughnuts and belgian biscuits ni, hikhikhik. Janganlah dia mintak I buat benda tiap2 minggu, tak kuasa I!

(lepas ni I boleh lah cakap dengan Mak mertua, “ha..ha…. I know how to make the biscuits now!” muahahhaha… terus kena cop menantu derhaka kalau berani cakap dengan dia macam tu :-)).

I said to The Other Half, “bolehlah buat biskut ni for Raya macam ni kan sebab they are really pretty and nice.” Then The Other Half said, “Have you got any friends to come over for Raya? :-P.” Cisss………

For lunch tadi, I teringin sangat nak makan prawns rice paper rolls. Nak keluar pergi kedai nak beli, tak sanggup weh sebab hujan selebat lebatnya so buat lah sendiri. Nasib baik semua ingredients ada kat rumah.

And for dinner pulak, I made soft tacos.

Minced beef tacos. I guna ready made seasonings aje.

I feel so full after a day of eating, Alhamdulillah…….

Yus,
I suka makan biskut tu kosong aje sebab I tak suka manis sgt. Buat celup dlm kopi sure sedap I rasa, hehehe

Kak Azie,
tu yg tak sanggup nya, buat hari2. Kalau Raya I rajinlah sikit kot nak buat biskut tu, hehehe

Jaja,
tacos tu makanan yg tak boleh di makan on the first date sebab tak senonoh nak makan. Tapi kalau dah kahwin or dah beranak, boleh aje, hehehe....

Ilizam,
A new name for the biscuit, hehehe.

Ain,
rupa dia macam popia tapi pakai vietnamese rice paper. Popia pakai tepung gandum kan kulit nya?

Salam LG:-D

Hmmm.... cerita2 macam ni lah yang I suka sangat:-D You know, about love between husband & wife, yeap! About love forever and ever between a husband and his wife! Alhamdulillah Syukur. Well, I am not a romantic, so, your story ni dah sound so... romantic to me :-D

Tapi bila you cakap pasal Belgian biscuit ni, ada makna lain juga kalau I tak silap... Anyway, rupanya banyak la nama dia ni, some places call it german biscuit ada pulak yang call empire biscuit. Anyway, asal ada jam kat tengah, I memang suka :-D Pasal asal-usul kenapa dia dipanggil belgian biscuit tu nanti I tanya kat Hercule Poirot, ya? :-D

Belgian biscuit ni kira synonym with new zealand kids lah. They all grew up eating the biscuits, don't know why it's so popular kat NZ tu, hehehe... And why Belgian as well? heran kan :-)

NenekPenne,
you suka makan yg terus berat2 ye. Makan biskut ni, buat lekat kat celah gigi aje kan, hehehe

Macam senang jer nak buat cookie tu. Ishhh cakap ja senang nanti nak buat susah lah pulak hehehe.

Lucu juga hubby you tu. So, kalau tak ada cookies, tidak ada lah cinta kekekek.

Mommy Lily said...

rasa nak gi beraya umah LG lak sebab mesti LG nak buat biskut tu masa raya nanti kan kan :) hehe

Kak Ain,
hubby I tu bila nak something, mulalah keluarkan kata2 manis, hehehe...

Kak Ita,
memang patut kan jadi calon isteri mithali. Nasib baiklah kita2 ni pandai lah gak masak kan so tak lah terasa susah sgt nak turutkan keinginan diaorang tu :-).

Rima,
Samalah. If they want something, suddenly all these flowery words come out kan, hahahaha...

Zack,
I tak suka sgt buat cookies ni sbb lagi leceh dr buat cakes n muffins :-). Bila ada permintaan, baru lah I rajinkan diri membuat, hehehe.

TTM,
hikhikhik....wah terer your TTD ye sbb tau yang you mengigau nak kan tart nenas, bukan tart lain tu, tart nenas jugak! hahahha.
Rice paper tu cuma celup dlm air suam sikit aje bagi dia lembut, pastu lie flat on cloth towel bagi dia kering sikit sebelum di gulung.

Azie,
I dah berapa hari tak dpt puasa sbb period, tu yg masak mcm2 tu, hehehe...

Shiori,
sbb icing and jelly crystals tu yg buat dia colourful. Raya ni kita buat mcm2 kaler lah bagi dia lagi colourful :-)

Indah,
tu yg I lagi suka masak apa yg dia minat nak makan dr masak apa yg I nak makan sbb dia gerenti akan habiskan :-).
I pun kdg2 teringin nak makan makanan jawa tp kena tunggu balik M'sia suruh my Mak buat, hahaha

KOG,
Pinggan2 I tu, most of them I beli kat 2nd hand shops and less than $1 each. I beli memang sebab untuk ambil gambar food for the blog :-).

Izan,
Tadi my hubby bawak gi office dia and semua kata sedap but for me a bit too sweet sbb ada jam n icing lagi :-).

SJB,
kalau ada cookies, lagi banyak cinta dia, muahahaha :-P

Mommy Lily,
boleh aje nak dtg beraya rumah I tp tak tau lah whether I rajin ke tak buat cookies ni nanti, hehehe

Hi, I ni your silent reader, but for this entry I have to comment sebab nak tanya you how do make the skin jadi "manageable". kat sini mmg ada jual yg dry tu, so selalunya I will letak satu mangkuk besar with air suam then put the dry skin tu, dip it, pastu letak the skin yg dah di dip atas pinggan and then letak the inti, but, selalunya pecah, only 50% je ok...what is your tip to make sure it is manageable, and macamana nak hilangkan that smell, you perasan tak, the skin have a certain smell yg tak berapa nak sedap sgt...hehe...thanks kalau you sudi menolong. great blog by the way!

Izan said...

Mmg cnfirm2 lah sedap...Akak kan terer masak... Nnt kalau sy pg Perth, bole lah akak masakan untuk sy eh.. hehehe

lemongrass said...

Bella,
I selalunya guna air yg tak berapa suam, more cool than hangat sebab klu terhangat sgt nanti dia cepat pecah.
Then, lepas dia dah lembut, I letak atas towel kering so air dia tu meresap kat towel and the rice paper tak basah kuyup.
Then only baru I letak atas pinggan and isi dengan all the fillings.
I think the smell comes from when they make the rice paper, memang ada 'unique' smell lah kan :-). I just accept it as an acquired taste of rice paper and guna dipping sauce yang quite strong, so tak bau sgt :-).

Izan,
kalau untuk tekak we all bolehlah, tekak orang lain tak tau lah kan :-)
