Kids and exercise

The Other Half and I both agree that Miss 6 is getting a bit too chubby for her height. When both of us were her age, we were as skinny as a rake so obviously we couldn’t blame her chubbiness on genetics lah kan. And her sister is also on the slim side. I guess I can put the blame solely on me for feeding her all these fattening food and also for having excellent cooking skills (Muahahahahaha, sila muntah sekarang ye :-D).

Masa Miss 10 was growing up, I was just starting to harness my cooking skills so my food repertoire tak lah banyak sangat and probably tak sedap sangat at well :-). But then, by the time Miss 6 was born and while she was growing up, my cooking skills have improved tremendously sebab I was eager to try my hands at cooking and baking so many different things. And so bila Mummy can cook and bake, Miss 6 pun suka lah nak try/test/taste and then eat all the things I cook, hehehehe. And when you are a Mum, when your kid loves your food so much, you pun bagi aje lah dia makan sampai lah dia kenyang kan or sometimes sampai dia terlebih2 makan bila sedap sangat (macam we all jugak lah kan, bukan tak boleh makan sikit but kadang2 tu sebab sedap sangat, makan sampai bertambah2!).

Anyway, I have already started to reduce her food intake very gradually. I’m not letting her starve OK but I’m teaching her to eat only when she’s feeling hungry instead of eating when she feels like snacking. Sebab dia ni kadang2 baru aje lepas makan breakfast pun boleh feeling peckish 10 minutes later. Bukan nya sebab dia lapar tapi dia tau yang kat dalam pantry tu ada banyak food yang dia boleh makan :-). Lebih kurang sama macam Daddy lah, tu sebab badan pun lebih kurang Daddy, hehehehe… And I’ve increased her vege/fruit intake as well (which is not an easy thing to do :-)) and cutting down on snacks.Kalau I drastically change her eating habits, sure dia akan tension habis but kalau I change bit by bit, insyaAllah she won’t notice much.

And we’ve also set aside 30 minutes each day for her to do some exercise/fun games at home. Masa I kecik2 dulu, tiap2 petang mesti main either galah panjang, main lompat getah, teng-teng, rounders or main basikal satu taman. Tu yang kurus aje kan sebab asik main sampai tak ingat nak makan. My kids bila balik from school, they have their afternoon tea, then rest for an hour before start doing their homework. Lepas tu dah time for dinner and then before 7 dah dusk so macam mana nak main kat luar kan. Kira takde masa nak beriadah lah. So, what we’ve ‘proposed’ is for The Little Misses to have 30 minutes after their rest period to play outside kat depan rumah. Tak kisah lah main catch n throw or main sepak2 bola or main kejar2 but it has to be keluarkan peluh type of game. Sambil tu I pun kena main sama sebab nak supervise diaorang outside the house so I pun dapat gak buat extra exercise ni kan :-).

Pagi tadi we went bike riding which was so much fun and petang tadi, The Little Misses played ball outside with The Other Half. Daddy is trying to teach the girls how to play cricket :-).

Yeay, I’ve finished my homework and now I can play too.

And for dinner, I made salmon patties makan dgn oven baked chips and salad. Both the girls finished their salad, yeay, hehehe…

kesian miss 6, lps ni tak leh snacking dah la? tp, biasalah budak2 memang suka mkn.. i yg tak berapa nak budak ni pon suka mkn! ahaks.. apa lg kalau mak plak terrer masak mknan yg sedap2, lagi la suka mkn.. hehehehee..

salam min. anak2 auntie masa kecil sama baya miss 6 montel2 semua tapi bila naik ting. 1 semua kurus melidi,agaknya malu so control makan tapi kalau makanan yg you masak tu macam mana nak kuruskan. tenguk gambar pun dah terliur ni kan pula kalau makan kan..

tu lah, sapa suruh you masak best2? Kan dah parah sekarang, hehehe.
But betul kan, kita dulu walaupun makan nasi hari2 tp tiap2 petang mesti main berjam2. Budak2 sekarang, kesian I tengok, tak smepat nak main. Tu yg kena kurang kan sikit makanan diaorang :-)

boleh snacking tp tak boleh kerap lah, hehehe. Pastu snacking buah aje banyak2 :-).
Sama mcm Daddy dia, suka sgt makan tu yg badan pun cepat sgt naik, tu yg kena exercise lebih2 sekarang ni,hehehe

Miss 6 tu memang loves food sgt2. Segala benda yg I masak mesti dia nak cuba, pastu dia akan suka. Jarang lah ada yg dia tak suka nak makan, tu yg badan dia pun montel aje :-).

anak2 akak pulak masa kicik2 mmg chubby abis, tembam dan montok. tp bila dh besar semuanya cekeding. nak buat cam ne...mak dia malas masak.hehehehe!!!!

so far i rasa anak2 akak tu tak ada masalah berat yg berlebihan em cuma akk kawal jer lah...miss 6 tuh tak ada lah gemuk sangat cuma dia chubby sikit di bandingkan dgn miss 10 haha!
seperti biasa ur dinner menarik dan menyelerakan kpd siapa sahaja yg melihat nya ...

i pulak LG baru 2 hari lepas dok ngajar kekanak riang i main teng2...he..he.. tu pun nak bagi exercise punya kes gak... sbb my allyssa pun dah debab... tp punyela susah nak ngajar main teng2 tu.. sbb ibu pun dah ingat2 lupa..ha..ha..

Memang susah lah mahu cutting down on the snacks kan. Macam my kids ni, ehhh susah betul lah. Kalau tidak bagi ada yang merajuk heheheh.

diaorang tak suka sayur sgt but I suruh diaorang habiskan sayur dulu on their plates baru boleh makan benda lain. Mak yg kejam kan I ni, hehehe

Ayang,
once badan dah naik ni, memang susah nak turun.Tu yg I kalau boleh, tak nak lah badan dia makin naik and makin naik so tu yg kena kurangkan sikit snacking dia and portion dia.

Kak Acik,
kalau dia duduk atas peha kita, kebas berjam2 lepas tu, hahahaha. Tu yg I pun seriau gak bila tengok perut dia makin lama makin ke depan :-).

Itu I belum tayang perut and montot dia lagi tu. Kalau I tayang, sure semua terkejut sbb tombam abis!!!!

Your case is acceptable,mummy slim, anak chubby, my case is the other way round, mummy chubby (aka fat), anak kurus..hik,hik,hik..ini kes semua lebihan makan anak mummynya makan dari terbuang. But I guess you are on the right track, but..she is so cute with her chubbines..comel lote gitu ! The exercise bit is great as well, I do the same, just bagi anak I main kat depan rumah bagi peluh keluar..otherwise terperap dlm rumah jer weekdays..tak macam kita, had some many outdoor activities dulu..

Tu yg I kena bagi Zahra slim sikit sbb nanti sure orang lagi tanya, anak you ke ni? hahahaha ;-).
Bila I tengok muka Zahra, dia tak lah chubby sgt, but bila I tengok perut dia, terus takut you sbb lemak dia mengalahkan lemka kat perut I, wehehehe

i nak tnya lah mcm mana nak dapat perfect oven baked fries tu..i selalu buat mesti ada part yg mcm nak hangit2 n ada part lembik jerk, tak crunchy langsung and cooked unevenly...

plese share the rcipe, techniques on how to get perfect fries and one more the oven setting..

pweety please kakak, my husband fav ni, tp taknak yg goreng punya..

i dah buat 3 kali dn cara yg berbezalah, yg i google, sume sama jerk:(

wasalam. I pun dulu mcm tu jugak bila buat oven baked chips, doesn't matter whether I buat sendiri the chips or beli yg frozen tu. Until I beli chips tray. Tray ni mcm tray biasa tp ada lubang2 on the base so haba panas tu boleh go thru and crisp kan the chips and chips tu tak go soggy lah.
And then I slalu guna temperature 230C.
I rasa ada kot kat M'sia jual tray yg lubang2 ni. Kalau takde, I wonder if boleh pakai redai biskut yg jaring2 tu?
