The colourful spread

This year for Iftar, I try to serve fresh and dried fruits daily.

Instead of just medjool dates to break our fast, I give them a selection of fruits.

At the moment, it’s always either strawberries, fuji apples, dried figs/dried apricots, mandarins or cherries and dates.

It’s Winter but we’ve got an influx of cheap cherries from the US so tu yang hari2 boleh makan cherries, hehehe.

Miss 13 doesn’t like strawberries at all because she always finds them to taste sour even though everyone else finds them sweet.

But she’ll eat the apples and cherries. Orang lain will eat everything on this plate!

The dried figs imported from Turkey, the dates and cherries from the US.

Only the strawberries and the apples aje yang come from OZ, hehehe.

And then kena ada kuih (for the first 3 weeks aje, lepas tu dah malas, hahaha).

Malam tadi, I made savoury kuih, murtabak segera guna kulit popia aje.

But the inti I buat macam inti karipap. I guna banyak kentang, I added frozen peas and I guna leftover roast lamb as the meat. And then sebelum isi kat the kulit popia, I just add eggs in it.

Kuih ni memang I cuma buat masa Ramadhan aje, hehehe.

And then for main meal, I made beef schnitzel makan dengan oven-baked chips, guacamole and bean salad.

The bean salad tu I buat banyak2, lepastu simpan dalam fridge and boleh makan for 2-3 dinners. Orang malas lah katakan, heeeeee…

I always use topside cut to make my beef schnitzel sebab takde gristles and tendons and ligaments in the middle of the meat untuk buat the schnitzel tough.

Malam ni untuk Iftar, I’m thinking of making something with turkey mince.

Either rissoles or meatballs or meatloaf I guess.

You are so NOT "orang malas" okay..hehee
I tak pernah buat murtabak. Nak try la, sedap pulak baca isi murtabak you ni..
I'm trying to cook more during this Ramadhan. Selalunya beli je sebab sibuk dengan hampers..but this year I tak ambik orders sangat. Call it 're-prioritizing' things :D. So selalu tengok gambar your meals ni, memang lebih bersemangat nak masak..

I had beef schnitzel last night. Didn't know you could use popia skin for martaba. Looks like I'll leave the office early to surprise the wifey with popitaba.

SOHO Mama,
I 'cheat' a lot when it comes to cooking to make my life simpler so I guess in a way malas lah tu kan, hehehe.
I thought during festive times, sure lagi sibuk you with the hampers sampai tak menang tangan ;-).

Susumanis,
memang best buat cara ni sbb senang :-)

Noir,
that popia skin is definitely very versatile and I am sure your Missus will love you more for cooking this popitabak :-).

Dana,
Bila tak puasa, the girls slalu dpt bekal fruit utk recess so masa bulan puasa ni, Mak diaorang kenalah serve fruits masa buka :-)

Imperialism,
bulan puasa memang tahan air liur aje bila lawat blog masak2 ni kan :-)

wahhh bestnya tengok fruits dalam pnggan tu. kalau kat sini strawberi dengan cheri tu kira fruits orang kaya-kaya je kot sis?! :-)
Kat my house pun fruits wajib utk buka puasa terutamanya kurma (yg diwajibkan makan oleh my dad pada semua org).our fav fruits watermelon, honeydew & rockmelon. kalau yg lain tu kurang laku masa puasa ni.

Aida,
kat sini buah bermusim so bila dia tgh musim murah, mmng hari2 lah we all makan cherries n strawberries tu. Perasan lah kejap jadi orang kaya eh ;-).

Kak Zai,
Salam. Memang senang sgt2 murtabak guna kulit popia ni, as long as inti dah siap awal2 :-).

Anash,
Kalau batal puasa, lagi worrisome kan so better not singgah my blog during ramadhan ni lah ;-).

Kak Kasih,
Saya guna kulit popia yg saiz kecik so memang jadi cenonet aje, hehehe

babyBonned,
I got it from here http://www.myresipi.com/top/detail/763 a few years back and sejak itu memang tak pernah buat murtabak style lain cos I'm just too lazy, hahaha

Umi,
hahaha...tak kuasa I nak berjual kat masjid tu. I nak buat buat makan sendiri aje :-)

Dessert paradise,
The murtabak yg guna kulit popia ni is very simple to do but I just have to make sure I ada stock the inti and kulit popia in the freezer.
I pun sebenarnya dah takde idea nak masak apa but luckily my family tak perlu makan nasi hari2 so I adalah lagi banyak benda yg boleh dimasak :-).
