The bills you will see when you own a house

My blog update for the past few days have revolved around food aje.

Dah bulan Ramadhan katakan so itu aje lah yang termampu nak di’bual’kan Winking smile.

But this morning, let’s talk about something else.

It’s been nearly 2 years since we moved into our own house.

Cepat betul masa berlalu kan!

I can still remember blogging about the chaotic life pre and post moving with all the boxes and what not…tup tup dah nak dekat 2 tahun we all kat sini.

It is nice to have our own house to do as we please with the house and not to have to worry about the 3-monthly inspection by the agent which used to make me so frenzied and hassled with cleaning!

But, owning a house also comes with all the other ‘hidden’ responsibilities that we didn’t have to think about when we were renting.

Punyalah banyak duit that we’ve spent on this house just for maintenance and replacing broken parts.

Macam the solar hot water system that we need to replace, the oven and the stove top that we need to replace, the ducted airconditioning unit that needs check up every year

Kalau dulu masa duduk menyewa, kalau ada problems with any of the above, we just have to let the agent know and they will send someone to come and fix it.

Pastu, the bills will be sent to the owner to pay instead of the renter yang bayar.

Senang kan, tak payah susah payah fikir.

And another major thing that we didn’t have to worry about when we were renting was all the bills associated with owning a house and land.

Like the council rates and the sewerage bills.

This is our yearly council rate.

IMG_0001

50% of the rate is used to pay the councillors wages. Patutlah ramai bebeno yang nak jadi councillors ni ye!

And the other 50% is used to maintain the libraries, the playgrounds, the garbage collections and so on and so on…

Rates kat OZ ni are calculated differently, depending on the council you live in.

In our suburb, the rate is calculated based on the property’s annual rental value if rented instead of the value of the house.

So, it’s just an assumptive value aje lah sebab we definitely are not going to rent our house for the time being, hehehe.

And ini pulak the annual bill we got from the Water Corp.

IMG

We all tak guna air banyak macam tu, giler hapa!

$681.90 of the total bill is for sewerage charge. Kalau tak nak bayar, tak sanggup nak bayangkan what will happen, kahkahkahkah….

$188 tu lah our water bill for 1 year tak silap….

I was lamenting to The Other Half, “if we were still renting, we wouldn’t have to worry about these bills….”

Macam ni tak boleh lah nak balik kampung nak beraya kan sebab duit nak guna nak bayar bills, hikhikhik….

Anyway, since it’s my blog, kenalah jugak I tayang gambar food kan.

I made jemput2 donuts.

I used the donut recipe tapi I kurangkan the tepung sangat2 making it a very lembik batter.

Bila dah naik kembang, I just jemput2 kan dia and goreng.

tu yang shape dia semua ada tanduk, hahahaha…

Miss 13 loves doughnuts and kalau I benarkan, she will just have this for Iftar, for dinner and also for sahur the next day!

Alamak banyaknya bil.. fuhh nasib baik kami menyewa aje.. tuan rumah pun tak pernah dtg check kecuali kalau ada yg rosak dia htr ayah dia yg duduk kat seberang jalan dtg tgk or htr kontraktor utk repair. senang keje. tp kena jaga elok2 jugalah rumah org kan. :)

LG,
i guess duduk kat mana2 pun sama ja skrg ni.. bill yang dpt mcm mencekik darah betul..like electricity bill kat mesia..with this new tariff and new kaedah bacaan meter.. my monthly bill api 1st month TNB buat estimate amount adalah dekat rm300 and the following month bill yg ikut bacaan dah almost rm600..mcm tak masuk akalkan padahal bukannye ada org kat rumah during weekdays..
with that amount of money kena fork out every month..kalau i save dah boleh gi melancong oversea dah.. sabau je lah...

House maintenance was the reason why we bought one-bedroom condo in the city instead of 3-bedroom house in the suburb. Condo ownership is like in between renting and house ownership. We are still have property tax, maintenance in our unit, and electric bills. But our condo fee includes services like water, sewage, central heating/cooling, and snow plowing, I just don't think we're ready for full-pledge home ownership. Besar kotak kasut ni pun kalut nak kemas.

sini pon same jgk. baru masuk umah jer dh dpt bil letrik, maintenance bill n cukai apetah. kotak pun x abis kemas lg. sabar jer la..

Kat sini pun apa2 landlord yg bayar, kita just bayar sewa. sewerage sini kene byr sama byk jumlah air yg dipakai. kene jimat la guna air. tp setengah rumah landlord byrkn. rmh saya kat msia semua kos saya tanggung, penyewa byr sewa je. kdg mcm tak berbaloi je. ;)

Rai,
Bila dah jadi pemilik rumah, memang mcm2 kena fikir kan :-). Kat sini, kalau menyewa through agents, memang ada 3 monthly inspections. Kalau menyewa straight dgn tuan rumah yg baik hati, kdg2 takde langsung any inspections :-).

Sue,
tu lah kan, ada rumah sendiri memang best sbb boleh buat apa2 tp bila fikirkan segala bill tu yg semput kekadang, heeee

Umi,
bestnya takde inspections. Memang betul, kalau dpt tuan rumah yg baik hati, memang tak dtg inspect langsung. Tapi sbb we all dulu sewa thru agent, kenalah suffer the 3 monthly inspections :-)

Ummisara,
pengsan tengok bill ke pengsan tengok donut, heehehe

Pizet,
tu lah kan, macam mana lah nak balik kampung beraya mcm ni, hahaha

Mulan,
hikhikhik...kalau tak sorok address, habislah rumah we all nanti jadi glemer gak :-P.
Kalau you dpt sewa tongkang murah, let me know ye sbb I nak tumpang balik Msia, kahkahkah.

Blu4sky,
mahalnya the elctricity bills kat Msia nowadays. Patutlah Mak I kata even though dia duduk berdua aje tp bill melambung2 naik.
Kenalah go back to pakai lilin aje kan :-)

Kesuma angsana,
segala benda nak kena fikir, memang tak habis pening lah :-)

Chekgu azrine,
jemput2 donut ni jemput orang tak rajin nak menerap donut, hehehe

Daffy's dream,
It is true, owning a house is a good thing but not when it comes to dealing with all the bills involved :-)

Yaz,
Anak I yg sorang tu kalau dah suka something, anytime dia boleh makan benda yg sama tu ulang alik, hehehe

kak Kasih,
Alamat kena tutup, nanti glemer satu dunia, hahaha ;-).

T,
If we didn't have kids, my hubby said memang nak beli apartment in the city to reduce some associated costs. Maybe nanti bila the girls dah besar2, we can have that small apartment in the city :-)

Cikgu Anum,
kalau suruh kita bayar, memang cepat aje bills tu datang kan. Tapi bila kita pulak nak dpt duit, lambat aje, hehehe

Asmara,
wahhh...kiranya you ni landlord yg baik hati lah kat Msia sbb bayar semua bills. Slalunya memang renter yg bayar segalanya kan.
