New things we found in M’sia

A scene that happened in Malaysia a week before we all balik sini masa singgah Pavillion untuk cari makan. I ni jenis yang tak boleh tengok bakery, mesti nak masuk and nak tengok all the breads and buns and cakes yang boleh kasi meleleh air liur kat dalam bakeries tu. Especially the bakeries kat M’sia sebab the buns and cakes lagi lah bermacam2 jenis nya. So, kiranya bila we all balik M’sia and masuk bakeries, ada lah sikit macam rupa orang duk tengah2 Amazon yang tak pernah tengok roti, hehehe. So, this was the conversation that took place at one of the bakeries..

Me to my sister: Wow, look at that bread, it’s so black like midnite and look at the fancy name, charcoal buns.

Miss 6: That looks really nice Mummy, can I have that?

Me: I better ask the baker first whether they have chocolate or coffee in it since it’s so black.

Me(dengan muka confident bertanya): Excuse me, what’s in this bun? Cocoa or coffee?

The baker (dengan muka annoyed sebab kena jawab soalan bodoh from a kampung girl): Neither. Just charcoal.

Me: Eek.. you mean the charcoal as in the burnt wood that you barbecued with?

Baker (dalam hati sure kata, memang sah lah orang kampung first time datang Pavillion): Not wood, bamboo!

Miss 6:I’m not sure if I want to eat charcoal…

The Other Half: I’ll try it! :-D.

So, we bought 1 bun only sebab takut rasa dia macam apa aje, hehehe and when we got home, everyone had a small slice just to taste it.

The verdict: it didn’t taste of anything. Tak pahit, tak payau, takde terture yang pelik…   

So, kiranya sama aje macam makan bun lain but glemer lah kot sebab makan charcoal bread, hikhikhik. But I guess kalau you tengah kena cirit birit and then makan charcoal buns ni, sure lega cirit birit you ye tak. Sebab macam makan charcoal tablets lah, hehehehe.

And then, the next day when we went to Tesco, we saw charcoal orange swiss roll. Since at that time, masih lagi jakun tengok charcoal bread ni kan, we all pun terus lah beli :-D. But The Other Half kata yang he preferred the charcoal bun sebab ke ‘charcoal’ an nya lagi terasa (but it didn’t taste of anything so I tak tau lah macam mana dia kata lagi terasa charcoal nya itu?).

Hitam dia tu sangat menawan. My Mak kata, entah2 kek coklat yang hitam legam jual kat kedai tu semua letak charcoal agaknya! Ada ke, wakakakakaka….

I pun tak pernah jumpa roti arang tu kat bakeries lain. First time jumpa kat Pavillion tu, pastu bila pergi Tesco, terjumpa pulak swiss roll tu..

Hahahaha... I pun terjumpa sbb pergi tempat posh Pavillion tu. Kalau tak, memang sah2 tak tau about it :-D

It's called Lavender tak silap I. It's at the foodcourt, basically in the middle at the entrance of the food court. They've got charcoal loaf as well :-). We all tak masuk lagi The Loaf tu, just mengagumi the shop from far, hehehe

Tu lah kan, kita ni kan orang kampung, memang tak tau langsung pasal roti arang ni, hahahaha..

k.min...ayu slalu jmpa charcoal bun ni.slalu tlg belikan utk opismate ayu time outing.tp ayu tak prnh mkn.ada yg kata charcoal yg digunakan tu baik utk kesihatan.ayu lupa ayu baca kat blog mana ntah.bila ayu tnya kwn ayu sedap ke tak...dia kata sedap.half loaf (adala dlm 4-5pcs) harganya rm5++.lg murah roti gardenia yg 1pack tu.

Hai.. hepi new year.. actually i ada jumpa kat kampar perak ni, tapi tak berani nak beli coz tak tau charcoal tu apa... walaupun dia ada tulis pasal bamboo... i lagi 'jakun' kut... kalu u kata tak de rasa apa, i try beli ari ni.. :-)

kalau I, memang lah takut sikit nak cuba tp my hubby tu yg beria nak rasa :-D. Mcm kita mkn sate yg ada geseng2 sikit tu , kan sedap sgt2, hehehe

Ayu slalu beli kat mana? Kat pavillion tu jugak ke? Masa I pergi bakeries kat Midvalley, tak pulak jumpa charcoal bread ni, tu yg heran bila pergi Pavillion :-). Tapi memang mahal lah kan klu banding dgn roti yg lain, pastu bukannya sedap giler, hehehe

Gigi tak hitam sbb roti dia tak berabuk tp lidah kot lah yg hitam, hehehe

Wahhh...Kampar tu kira upmarket jugak lah kan sbb ada roti arang ni ;-D. Cubalah beli nanti, rasa dia biasa aje, tak lah pelik sgt.

Kat Msia ni memang bnyk benda yg new mcm ni kan. So far kat Perth ni, I tak pernah jumpa lagi :-)

I jumpa kat Tesco K.Selangor kat bahagian kek yg dah di packed sebelah roti gardenia mcm tu, bukan kat tempat roti panas2 tu. Cuba lah, for me, rasa dia biasa aje, tak lah hebat mana, hehehe

i love this bread... 1st time tgk dulu jakun la jugak.. but now become my faveret...

but tesco one definately tak sama dgn charcoal bread.

A'ah kat Lavender tu. My hubby pun kata sedap but for me, biasa aje lah. Next time we all balik M'sia, kena lah pergi Lavender lagi sbb nak satisfy hubby's taste :-).

Semenjak dua menjak pandai menguli tepung wat roti sendiri..dah jarang singgah bakery....sebab bila tanya anak2 dia org kata Mama pun dah boleh buat...ya la sebab dia org suka bun sosej aje!
Nanti nak try jenguk tengok ada tak yg legam cam gitu!!

LG, bakery dekat my office ada jual charcoal bun. First time tengok, ingatkan dia org letak byk cocoa tapi kat situ tulis bamboo charcoal bun. I pun macam you jugak lah, tanya kat pekerja di situ, awat hitam legam sangat bun tu. hehehe Curious nak tau. Dia pun beritau yg bun tu dari bamboo charcoal, dia kata sedap & elok utk kesihatan. Kononnya nak buang toxic dlm badan. Tapi I tak berani nak cuba. Kalau dia kata buat dari chocolate, berani jugak lah nak try.

I thought kat negara Mat Saleh lagi byk jenis2 bun & roti berbanding kat Msia coz org sana kan memang makan roti. Rupanya kat Msia lagi byk yek.

tu lah kan, I pun curious sgt2 sbb I ingat dia letak kopi + cocoa yg jadi black gitu, rupa2 nya memang betul arang, hehehe...
Roti M'sia and roti kat Perth ni lain sikit. Kat M'sia lagi bnyk variety and lagi bnyk combination mcm pandan, durian, kacang. Kat sini yg biasa2 aje combination nya, tak gah sgt :-)

I betul2 miss bakery kat Msia. Mcm pelik jugak kan, tgl negeri mat salleh tp miss roti kat Msia. But our bread kat Msia lagi sedap, lagi best n lagi menawan dari kat sini. Kalau ada filling lak kat dlm roti tu mcm2 gaya n rupa pulak. Just like cinnamon rolls. Kat sini nak cari yg sedap mmg payah. Kat Msia dulu2 senang je nak cari. Beribu2 perisa n filling. I love my country...

Salam LG, akak rasa lah kan mesti LG tak dapat rasa kenikmatan Roti 'Charcoal' tu sebab portion dia sikit sangat kut. Kalau makan banyak mesti rasa ;)

How are you, lama I tak singgah kat blog you. I sedih nie..kat opis I semua laman internet that ends with blogspot dah kena sekat. Hantu betul IT Dept nie...I tak leh enjoy my morning coffee every Mon-Fri.Kat umah jer boleh, dah lah I sibuk, weeknights I mengantuk cepat lah plak.
Anyway, u boleh masukkan I dlm list "kampung" sbb I pun tak pernah tengok charcoal bun lagi walaupun I pernah pegi Lavendar a few times.

I mmng suka bread n buns n anything that's in a bakery! I pun miss sgt2 bakeries kat M'sia bila dtg sini, hehehe. I like Baker's Delight stuff but like you said, tak boleh lawan the varieties kat M'sia lah kan!

takpe lah u, kalau chocolate buns tu boleh lah jugak I melantak banyak2 but roti arang ni.. hmmm... Tak bagi pun takpe, wehehehe
