There’s always a first time for everything….

I ni tak tau nak masak benda ni…

Bukan setakat tak tau masak, nak pilih yg mana best and nak bersihkan pun I tak tau…..

The Other Half pun tak gemar makan benda ni so lagi lah memang takdenya I nak masak….

I selalu teringin konon2nya nak masak khas untuk I tapi bila fikir betapa lah lecehnya nak makan, terus terbantut…..

But a few weeks ago, I cekalkan hati and beli jugak benda ni and finally I cooked them tonite… Open-mouthed smile

But sebelum I masak, I duduk depan PC tengok cara2 macam mana nak bersihkan these things, hehehehehe…..

Sanggup tu semata2 nak make sure I did it right Open-mouthed smile….

Finally, I managed to clean them and cook them.

Presenting…

Fried soft shell crabs, heeeeee…….. Smile with tongue out

The only reason I sanggup nak masak and The Other Half sanggup nak makan is because it’s soft shelled so tak payah susah payah nak kopek kulit nak cari isi setoit tu aje.

The Little Misses tried it but they said, “meh…nothing exciting.”

Which means the next time I cook it will be in a few years time lah, hahahahaha.

Makan dengan nasi panas, tahu in taucu and stir fried mixed veges.

Nasib baik I masak ayam masak kicap as well so adalah jugak lauk untuk The Little Misses, hehehe.

Just nak tunjuk anak Mat Saleh makan guna jari. Selalunya they will use a spoon kalau makan nasi but since every time nampak Mum dia makan guna jari, occasionally diaorang teringin jugak nak merasa makan melayu style Winking smile.

(Tak payah gosok2 mata tu, kat rumah I memang makan guna pinggan melamine aje kalau makan nasi, bukan pinggan corelle atau Pak Albert, hahahaha)

Kalau Arwah Atuk I tengok Miss 7 makan, he would say, “Urong jowo bocah iki!”

Muahahahahaha…..

Rasanya ada soft shell crabs kat Msia sbb chinese suka makan ni :-)

Pendragon,
For me sedap sbb kita makan everything including the shells so rasa mcm makan bilis but softer lah kot, hehehe.

Cat,
We got the frozen ones, susah mah nak cari yang fresh kat sini :-). Anak jawa OZ yg kecik tu suka tempe but yg sorang lagi perasan mat saleh habis so tak makan tempe, hahahaha...

Diaorang memang tak biasa makan guna jari tu sbb I pun bukan hari2 masak nasi so memang susah nak practice, hehehe...

First time tgk Soft shell crab nih.. Mcm pelik pn ade.. Hahaha.. but must b nice ha... The Little Misses kate nothing special coz tak de adegan2 kopek kulit ketam kot.. kalo ketam biasa tu bersilat nak kopek kulit utk isi yg secoit!

I love soft shelled crab in a sandwich. I never attempted to make it myself, but now you inspired me. hehehe. Do you have to clean it extensively? For some reason I thought you just wash ala kadar and just dredge it and fry it :-P

Aidah said...

Mahal tak kat sana? Di sini kalau nak murah, beli frozen di Kota Kinabalu tapi akak tak reti jugak nak bersihkan so selalu beli yang dah siap goreng di Isetan. Itu pun kalau teringin sebab mahai!

mamasuri said...

ala comelnyer anak mat saleh ni makan...hehhehe...

Ayu said...

Assalam LG, for me this soft shell crabs pun i tak pernah beli yang mentah heheh..rasa2nya merasa pun belum lagi kot?..sebab kalau nak rasa kena makan kat restaurant yang ada jual this type of crabs..tapi memang selalu orang goreng rangup..bila makan terus dengan kulit2nya sekali..alahai kalau dekat memang i masakkan u asam pedas ketam tu tau..hehe

my dad used to make us speak jawa, but none really picked it up. sian kami.. rugi betul.

Mira Marlena said...

I've never bought, clean nor cook crabs before..susah tak nak bersihkan? My mom lagi tak suka nak siang ketam..leceh katanya.
Kiranya Miss 7 dah pro pakai tangan la ni?Alya cekap tak makan pakai tangan?
*Adakah translation tu bermaksud budak jawa celup?Main suka tembak aje ni..kalau salah jangan mare eh kak Min!

Dinas,
Cuba ambik gamabr pinggan jelutong, I nak gak tengok :-). pinggan melamine ni best bila ada budak kecik sbb tak pecah kalau jatuh. Corelle pun tak pecah gak tapi rege dia.... hehehe. Masa I kecik2 dulu, pakai pinggan aluminium tu, hahaha.

blu4sky,
anak2 I tak pandai sgt makan pakai tangan ni but occas they want to try, I pun tak kisah but not in front of Mat Saleh lah, hehehe

Apizolla,
sikit2 tu ingat jugak lah but still kena fikir lama baru timbul perkataan tu, hehehe

leya,
makan maggi panas2 bila tgh kelaparan and kepenatan, sangat lah sedap nya. Especially kalau maggi yg pedas2 sikit tu :-).
Buttered crab tu kena guna the hard shell crabs kan.

Shiera,
I guess diaorang ingat sure sedap sgt2 ketam ni kot tu yg bila rasa dia biasa aje, diaorang tak kisah, hehehe.
Tu yg I tak kan masak ketam biasa sbb nak makan isi secoit, kena bersilat berjam2 dulu.

Kak Yan,
Kat Msia rasanya banyak kat restoran china or japanese sbb diaorang memang suka makan benda ni :-)

Unaizah,
Masa I kecik2 dulu, I suka makan ketam but now bila dah kena masak and kopek sendiri, terus jadi malas. I lagi suka beli frozen cooked crab flesh, mahal sikit tp berbaloi sbb tak payah kopek, hehehe.

Aida,
Rasa dia for me, sedaplah sbb ada manis ketam and then bila makan the shells, krup krap mcm kulit ayam goreng :-).
Pinggan melamine tu I rasa akan digunakan sampailah diaorang both in high schools, hahaha...

Aswani,
that's a very good suggestion, macam nak buat aje rasanya, hehehe

Ayu,
I think kan kita punya similarities part2 malas tu kan, hahaha. Benda yg leceh, tak kuasa I nak masak :-P.
Bocah tu budak in Jawa :-)

T,
You have to remove a few bits here and then and then give it a brief rinse. That's why I had to google it up so I didn't leave anything behind, hehehe.

Kak Aidah,
I pun beli ketam yg frozen kat Asian grocery shop. Tak ingat pulak berapa harga dia but at that time, tak mahal sgt.
Saya ni dah beli baru terkial2 cari kat google mcm mana cara nak bersihkan, hehehe

Mamasuri,
Nasib baik lah masuk jugak nasi tu dlm mulut, hehehe.

Ayu,
Memang dia kena goreng sbb kalau steam or masak berkuah, the skins fall of rasanya. Kalau you nak masakkan I ketam masak asam, hari ni jugak I pergi beli ketam! hehehe

Mama Noriz,
biasalah orang jawa kan, mesti guna ayat tu, hahaha.
I yg beria2 nak masak ketam tu, nasib baik lah my hubby nak makan :-).

Hazwan,
Maksudnya 'budak ni belum jawa' which is the statement used by old javanese people to explain kalau someone tak reti/pandai/paham about something, hehehe.

klynn,
betul lah tu the translation. I pun tak pandai ckp jawa but when I was young, I paham apa orang ckp cuma tak reti nak sebut aje. But skrg ni sbb jarang dengar orang cakap, lagilah hilang semuanya :-(.

Mira,
Samalah kita kan. I guess when there's no one who wants to eat the crabs, tu yg lagi malas nak beli nor clean nor masak :-).
Alya kdg2 pakai tangan jugak but not that cekap either, hehehe.
It translates to belum jawa budak ni :-)

sHieRa cAkAp said...

Memang kak.. especially kalo musim ketam tuh isi sikit... alahai tak berbaloi nk beli, masak n makan!

PUTUBAMBU said...

ape maksudnya tu ye?
bersepah yek?

NM said...

urong jowo bocah iki tu mksd nya budak ni memang orang jawa ke? hahaha..saya tak berapa faham sgt.bocah iki tu selalu la mil cakap kat anak saya. :P

lemongrass said...

Shiera,
tu lah sbb nya lagi senang tak payah masak ketam, hahaha

Putu,
tak, maksudnya, "budak ni belum Jawa lagi". Ayat yg orang tua Jawa slalu guna, hehehe

Lin,
Bocah iki tu maksudnya 'budak ini". Urong jowo tu maksudnya "belum jawa", hehehe
