I love reading and I love reading recipes. I learn so many new words just by reading recipes.
Dulu2 masa mula memesrakan diri dengan periuk belanga and baking pans, I cuma berani cuba dishes and bakes yang simple2 aje sebab I cuma paham simple recipes aje.
Ye lah, dolu2 mana paham yang ‘to reduce the sauce’ to maksudnya to let it simmer until dia pekat or until the volume has reduced. Masa tu cuma terfikir yang dia suruh kita buang separuh the sauce and terfikir what a stupid thing to do. Dah penat masak2 tiba2 kena buang, rugi aje kan! hahaha.
Dolu2 I had no idea how to poach anything and what it meant (I still dont know how to poach an egg, hehehe) but at least now I know what poaching means in cooking and not the other kind of poaching! .
Dolu2 I was so scared of yeast so memang tak pernah buat donuts nor pizza base. I didn’t even know what proofing is and that yeast can die too! But sekarang ni pejam mata dah boleh buat pizza and donuts and yeast tu dah jadi my best friend (muahahaha…..riak gilers tak larat ).
Dolu2 I rasa ketar2 nak stuff envelopes karipap but sekarang ni I think I can face stuffing a whole chicken easily , tak dok ketar2 dah, hehehe.
Dolu2 I had no idea what risotto, paella, couscous, quesadillas, aioli, bechamel sauce, gnocchi etc mean but now I can say I’ve made all of them, heeee…..
But there’s still one thing that is a bit of a mystery to me (occasionally)…
What does it mean when they say to leave it overnight or biarkan semalaman?
Does it mean that we leave it overnight and cook it in the morning or leave it overnight and masak bila2 the next day.
How long is overnight?
8 hours? 6 hours? 12 hours? 4 hours?
Kalau I tetiba teringat pukul 2 pagi and cepat2 gi rendam pulut and then masak esok pagi nya pukul 7 pagi, will it be enough walaupun I dah rendam ‘semalaman’ .
And then I ni pulak jenis yang masak special masa dinner aje so kalau I rendam/marinate benda2 tu pagi2 to be used/cooked at dinner time, will it be enough? .
I saje je tanya sebab I ni memang jenis yg sentiasa terlupa nak leave it overnight but selalunya I manage to marinate or rendam for at least 4-6 hours, hehehehe.
Macam hari ni, I puasa so tekak tu ada sikit mengada2 and teringin nak makan vadei/ masalodeh so carilah kat MyResipi and jumpalah recipe masalodeh ni but it says kena rendam semalaman the kacang.
I looked at the clock dah pukul 11.30 pagi and I nak buka pukul 5.30 so how mah nak buat semalaman, heeee….
I pun just rendam aje in warm water with multiple warm water changes and waited with baited breath….
Taadaaaa….jadi jugak my vadei ni and sempat jugak I makan for buka puasa tadi walaupun tak rendam semalaman, hikhikhik…
Sedap gilerssssss…… so crunchy with crispy edges.
Daun kari fresh mari from our pokok kari yang sekarang ni tengah menggigil kesejukan .
Pastu, I masak 2 dishes for dinner, mee goreng and nasi goreng.
Yang dua orang tu tak nak makan nasi goreng and yang dua orang lagi tak nak makan mee goreng so I masak lah dua2, senang cerita .
Tapi sebab tekak I mengada2, I makan jugak dua2, hahahaha….

semalaman tu bagi I, rendam malam before tido ke...pastu esok pagi bangun, kira ok la tu kot...x kira lah berapa jam pun...wah, berselera akak mkn mlm ni ye....dua2 sekali akak makan!

I pulak jenis yg memang slalu lupa nak rendam before tidur. Nasib baik lah we all jenis yg nak makan utk dinner, so rendam pagi2 bila bangun tidur, hehehe.

I beli pokok kari tu kat this asian gorcery shop. Kebetulan masa I went there, they were selling pokok kari in pots, I pun terus lah sambar 1 :-). It's quite easy to find asian herbs and plants kat Perth ni :-).

Buku resepi mm boleh la tahan banyaknyer tapi boleh kira dengan jari berapa yang guna. most of it in bahasa lah yg diguna. Yg english punya mampu tgk gambar sambil berangan-angan je.. tapi since K.Min dah kongsi citer positif... insyaAllah lah cuba ikut jejak K.Min... Mekasih!
Saya rasa rendam semalaman means.. Rendam malam ni, nk dekat dinner malam esoknye baru ley gune.. Rite??? baru betul2 semalaman tak? hihihi... now bile akk dah bangkit kan baru la terfikir pasal tu..
betul la kak min. bg kita yg belajar masak sendiri ni. buku resepi and youtube lah nak jd sumber rujukan.
bg sy rendam semalaman ni lebih kpd merujuk pd org dulu2. sebelum tido kalau nak makan pulut esok pg. rendam siap2 sebelum tido. esok pg lepas subuh dah leh tanak buat sarapan.
utk kita yg selalu masak tengahari atau petang. lepas bangun pagi pun sempat lagi rendam. ;)

Kita still malu-malu dengan yeast. Cik Abe berani sikit, tapi kita ada love hate relationship dengan yeast. Yang lain-lain tu lagi lah, hahaha... Cantik vadei, tambah rojak mamak memang lengkap~
