Our ‘diet’ food

Some people asked me how The Other Half managed to lose weight with the ‘delicious’ dinners that I cooked (delicious-looking aje, hehehe Winking smile).

Bila I tanya The Other Half, dia kata, “Plenty of exercise and portion control and cutting down on the junk food and sugary drink.”

Dia memang exercise a lot everyday. Mana tak nya, he rides 50kms everyday, going to work and back home. He burns so much energy cycling everyday and with his portion-controlled meals and snacks, he loses all the fat ‘easily’. You should see his calves now, kalah Lance Armstrong nya calves, hikhikhik. So well defined Open-mouthed smile.

(And you should see his shrinking waistline too! Mama Mia! Hahahahaha).

He doesn’t ride on Friday but every morning (pagi2 buta) before he goes to work and I organise the girls, he and I will do about 45 minutes of core body/upper body workout on Wii.

And then on weekend, he’ll do Wii, exercise on the elliptical and occasionally go on bike ride with The Little Misses.

I yang tulis ni aje pun dah mengah as though I burn banyak calories, lagi lah dia yang buat all the exercise kan, hehehe.

And now he eats just slightly more than me. Bukannya I yang makan banyak as him but dia yang makan sejemput aje macam I. Tu yang kadang2 I rasa I terover makan bila the food tengok his plate now sebab selalu nya his food will be piled high on the plate.

Mula2 memang lah dia sentiasa lapar sebab dari big portion kena kurangkan portion. But sekarang ni, he’s really full after a small meal (sebab perut dia dah mengecut kan Smile). We normally will weigh our food on the scale so senang nak enter on Myfinesspal and find out how much calories we are consuming. Memang leceh sikit lah sebab everytime nak makan anything and everything, kena weigh and kena baca the calorie info on the pack.

But nak sihat and lose weight kan, so terpaksalah bersusah payah dahulu, bersenang2 kemudian, hehehehe…

Malam ni I made asian salad with grilled prawn and thai dressing. Ni pun angkara tengok MyKitchenRules last nite lah.

Since meal ni memang sikit sangat2 carbs, it’s really low in calories. Yang meninggikan calories nya was the thai dressing.

We really love the prawns Smile.

(Psst…limau/lime tu kat sini 70sen sebiji! Hehehehe)

The Little Misses makan benda lain lah sebab diaorang tak perlu jaga calories sangat (well… except Miss 7 kot, hahaha).

And for dessert pulak, we had grilled mango cheeks with no-fat yoghurt and a drizzle of golden syrup.

It satisfied our sweet tooth and still low in cals. A win-win situation Smile.

Kalau lah laki I nak diet, alangkah bagus nye I. Kalau suruh dia naik basikal gi kerja, mau dia pengsan pertengahan jalan, 120km suruh dia kayuh. Suruh exercise kat rumah, malas. Ada elliptical bike, sampai rosak dek anak dia kerja kan pun dia still tak pernah pakai. Suruh I beli/orderkan abdominal workout bench pun bukan dia yg pakai. My anak2 yg beriya2 bergayut atas benda tu. Dah lah dia tu keturunan yg cepat gemok n lambat kurus, tu dia perut naik mcm 9 bulan. Kkdg I tease dia, dah ada bat wing, bila lagi nak terbang. Marah pakcik tu. I ingat beli je powerplate. Biar dia berdiri diam2 kat atas benda tu sambil makan eskerim. Tu I selalu ckp, what happened to the footie player that I married 12 years ago. Dia balas, beli 1, get 2 free.

hahaha..as salam min,dekah2 akak gelak baca komen kat atas sekali nih..beli 1 get 2 free..dulu hubby akak camtu gak la..selalu kita je yg beria2 nak kurus..dia buat derk..je..skang bila dia beria2 nak kurus akak pulak dah tak boleh nak kurus sbb makan ubat darah tinggi..gemok air dah..
baru tadi dia bwk balik pamplet(betul tak spell tu?) mayfair..tanya akak nak gi treatment kuruskan badan..dia dah bayar katanya..oh tidak!
btw..best kan kalau cycle gi kerja..jimat myk kereta..

FIL akak jatuh tu hari,patah tulang pinggul.nak operate tak boleh sbb skang ni ada masalah jantung pulak.

haha that's a clever answer (flower's hubby). on a more serious note, i kagum your hubby's determination. i sekarang cuma jog n some kickabouts. after my recent birthday, i realised makin tua lagi nak banyak work outs.

Hi LG, Bravo to you hubs for successfully losing so many kgs! Kuat semangat dia nak kurus! My hubs can only do it when I am back in KL.Hehe sebab bila dia tinggal bujang makanan yang dia masak semuanya sungguh bland and so healthy. Kalau I ada kat rumah he fails to control his portion dengan my food. I hope both of you berjaya mendapat impian berat badan yang diidam2kan! :-) Good luck!!

tapikan k.min, it's not easy to cycle more than 50km everyday. i think, if I were ur hubby, tak sampai 5km, i akan telepon mintak bantuan.. hahaha

k.min, jgn la kurus sgt, nanti i rasa pressure pulak bila duduk sebelah u coz nanti we'll be like kayu balak and sebatang lidi :P

50km/day? Adoi la.. memang tak terbuat dek saya! Muaha! Setakat aerobik 3 kali seminggu pon sometimes rasa nak ngelat.

Memang respect dengan determination you guys yang sentiasa bersenam and bertimbang portion. True, kena ada efford la baru nanti buleh enjoy kan? Orait.. saya pon nak bersungguh timbang portion la lepas ni. Thanks!

determine sungguh.. tu yang best tu. yang tu baru boleh trun weight bebetul. kagum2.. tapi yang naik basikal tu best ehh? hubs akak tu sure rasa macam naik kete jer bila naik basikal hari2. terror and as the cook.. cayalah. i kindda sumbat everythg for my hubs. :D

Kalau yr hubby naik basikal gi kerja,maulah kot seminggu baru sampai ye n hari2 punchcard merah,hehehe.
We all baru beli a new elliptical sbb our old elliptical dah rosak after 5 years guna n pindah2 tempat.
Maybe u kena exercise dpn dia wearing micro shorts n nothing else,baru dia berkobar2 nak exercise kot,hikhikhik ;-).
Untung gila you sbb beli 1 dpt 2 free! Hahahahaha

Kak Anymz,
Hubby I pun jenis yg bila tgh berkobar2,mmng beria2 dia kuruskan badan. Tapi bila once stop,bertahun nak berkobar2 balik. Hopefully this time, dia stays motivated for ever lah.
Kak Anymz pergi aje mayfair tu,try lah, mana tau kot2 memang best sgt2 kan :-)

He used to be so fit with a 6-pack once but bila start kahwin, terus everyone jadi malas n started piling on the weight.
I guess bila dia realised his gut n 'manboobs'are getting bigger, tu yg buat dia so determined to lose them, hehehe

Miss Interpreted,
I grilled them on the stovetop guna grill pan aje. Tak payah letak oil or anything. The sugar in the mango will caramelise and make it really sweet :-)

Fasha,
My hubby blames my cooking as well for his weight gain. Dia kata it's so difficult to control his portions bila I masak all his favourite food, hehehe.
Tu yg skrg ni I terpaksa fikir mcm mana nak still masak all his favourite food and reduce the calories as well. Pening I!

Shidah,
I pun tak sanggup nak cycle that far everyday. Buat elliptical 40minit pun I dah rasa siksa! Tu yg dia skrg pukul 9.30 malam dah tidur nyenyak, hahaha.
I nak jadi mcm Lara Croft the tomb raider, all toned up minus the boobs and the gorgeous face lah, hikhikhik...

Kak Yan,
Salam. Saya pun malas nak exercise. Tu yg bila sy exercise, mesti sambil tengok dvd, baru lah ada mood nak exercise and tak terasa sgt penatnya.

Aida,
I tak determine sgt tp sbb hubby dah memang determine nak lose weight and I know memang dia kena lose that weight nak dpt BMI normal. Tu yg I try to make everything easier for him by weighing the food lah, masak low cal food, buying low call fod for him. Memang leceh tp sbb sayang, sanggup buat, hahahahaha.

Messy Mummy,
I pun suka masak and beli mcm2 food for hubby, tu yg badan dia naik bagai di pam2 until masuk categori obese dah.
Luckily dia dah sedar nak kurangkan his weight so I pun try to help him in the ways I can lah :-).
Tapi memang kena strong-willed and determine.

Hopefully once we all dah capai berat idaman, dah boleh lah kurangkan sikit the exercise just to maintain kan :-)

Dua2 tu memang kena kuatkan hati untuk dibuat kan! Lagi lah jenis mcm we all ni yg suka sgt2 makan, hehehe....

huhu...jelesnya tgk akak n family dah b'jaya mçapai azam tahun baru.baru bln 2 dah tçapai.caya la!!! ayu ni smpai la tak start pape lg.taip hari kata nak kurus tp nak usaha ke arah tu...t'sgt la ciputnya.

hm...lama tak komen kat blog akak sbb aritu cuti pjg sempena CNY.pastu bila dah on9,akak lak dlm mood kemalasan.tu yg ayu tak komen pape.btw mood malas yg akak alami tu dah pun ayu lalui so ayu rasa apa yg akak rasakan tu :D

Sadly what TOH said is true..kurangkan gula,junkies dan loads of exercise..tu yang leceh tu!But seriously he cycled 50km per day?Wah,tak sangka sungguh determine utk kuruskan badan dengan berbasikal sejauh tu.My hubs lebih kurang kak Fasha jugak..berdiet bila bininya ni takde kat rumah!hehe

Psst.. kak, entah2 TOH nak celen sapa loose weight terbanyak tak?Kalau macam tu mestilah dia menang loteri besar!

Nak start tu memang rasa siksa sangat2 sebab rasa mcm segala makanan memanggil2 melambai2 suruh kita makan. Dah lah rumah I ni penuh dgn cokelat, hehehe.

Mira,
Hubby I yg terexcited lebih2 bila his waist measurement dah makin meramping, hehehe.
Junk food lah yg buat hidup kita lagi ceria kan especially bila tgh tengok tv, tengah lepak2 minum kopi, hehehehe... Tu yg susah sgt nak give up. Luckily our new way of eating still allows junk food, cuma control portion aje lah :-)

Dulu pun dia cycle jugak but very rarely and slalu sgt banyak excuse tak nak cycle, hehehe.
But since azam dia nak kuruskan badan, memang hari2 dia mengayuh :-)
