Back to the 70s

Sometimes I malas masak during the weekend sebab dah masak the whole week…

Sometimes I akan terrajin and akan masak menunaikan permintaan tekak2 kat rumah ni…

Pagi tadi bila I tanya The Other Half what he wants for dinner, he asked me what I wanted to use for the protein.

I said that chicken is the top choice so far…

So, he suggested crusty bread with some kind of chicken in gravy so we can use the bread to soak up the gravy.

So, to the internet I went to look up some nice crusty bread recipes that are simple and also some nice chicken in gravy recipes that are also simple to make.

We’ve always wanted to try apricot chicken which is a very popular dish in the 70s but tak pernah terbuat2 sebab takut rasa dia tak kena dengan our tastebuds.

Walaupun ramai orang kata apricot chicken ni sedap.

The Other Half said that he grew up with apricot chicken but he has forgotten how it taste like.

(I tak nak lah cakap yang mentua I tak pandai masak kan sampai kan anak dia tak boleh nak hengat, hahahahaha).

So, tadi we all memberanikan diri mencuba masak apricot chicken ni….

To go along with the crusty bread that I baked…

I baked 2 big cob loaves of this crusty italian bread. I used the recipe from here.

They were ready by lunch time so everyone wanted to try a slice which lead to some people eating more than a slice.

Half of a loaf was gone by lunch!

Memang sedap because it’s crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside. Typical italian bread.

The water spray definitely did the trick to achieve that result.

Miss 13 who lovessssssssssssss crusty breads makan bersungguh!

After searching for apricot chicken recipe, I chose this one sebab it’s got rave reviews and it looks like it’s got more flavours banding dengan yang lain.

We thought it would have tastes very sweet because of the apricot nectar but it tasted pretty good actually!

Adalah rasa manis sikit but it was balanced by the spices.

You can eat the apricot chicken either with rice or couscous or bread.

So now I can say that I’ve cooked the ever popular Mat Saleh dish of apricot chicken!

Hehehehehe……

Ibu,
sehati sejiwa agaknya ;-)

ka6_jeram,
memang masakan moroccan bnyk guna apricots and kacang. i guess sbb abundant kot kat negara diaorang.

farah,
they do complement each other nicely :-)

Kniedaz,
ini lebih kurang mcm makan sambal2 jawa yg agak manis tu. I pun prefer sambal tempeh dr ni, hahaha

MakcikKantin,
I pun first time makan and buat apricot chicken ni, not too bad lah.

Intan,
I pun dulu2 slalu beli aje crusty bread ni sbb ingat susah sgt nak buat. Tapi bila slalu surf net cari recipe and tricks mcm mana nak bagi crusty, lama2 boleh buat sendiri :-)

UmmuAidan,
Manis lah jugak tp manis buah so tak lah rasa muak sgt :-).

Latifah,
hahaha...bila hari2 kena masak, sape2 pun boleh jadi magician

Mulan,
nasib baik you tak duk KL kan, or else memang tak masuk dapur langsung lah during the weekend tu, hahaha. I pun rasa kalau I duduk kat Msia and surirumah, wknd memang tak kuasa nak masak lah :-)

Sue,
ok lah jugak rasa dia, rasa rempah sikit and manis2 sikit :-)
