Tonite, I made dinner using both the oven and the stove top.
Most of the dinners yang I masak akan guna both stove top and oven so guna both gas and electricity.
So, our gas bill and electricity bill dua2 sama2 naik, hehehe…
I made quiche-like thing in puff pastry.
Why only quiche-like not real quiche?
Because I cooked the fillings first on the stove top, then add some milk and cheese to it until it thickens slightly.
I just sauteed in butter thinly sliced leek, diced capsicum, diced button mushroom and leftover roast chicken meat. Then scatter some plain flour and continue cooking it. Then add some milk and cook until it has thickened slightly.
Then pour the filling into the puff pastry case, scatter some grated cheddar onto the filling, arrange some sliced tomatoes on top and bake it in the oven.
I didn’t use any eggs in the filling like a normal quiche would do.
If I had added the egg, I guess the filling would have been a bit more ‘together’ and firmer a bit.
But we liked it this way, slightly gooey, hehehe.
Talking about utility bills, I am not sure if our tariffs are higher or lower than any other countries.
But one thing I do know, they keep on increasing every year!
The utility bills here in Perth are paid a bit differently.
Ada yang bayar bulan2, ada yang bayar 6 bulan sekali and ada yang bayar 2 bulan sekali and ada yang bayar 3 bulan sekali.
These are our latests utility bills:
Electricity- $312 for 2 months
Gas- $40 for 3 months
Water $250 for 6 months
Other types of bills pulak:
Mobile phones –$120/ month for 3 mobile phones. 2 phones have data and these 2 phone are iPhone 4s so we are paying $5 extra a month for 2 years for this.
House internet connection which includes house phone- $60/month
Gas memang sangat2 murah banding dengan electricity. Kalau our hot water system uses gas, our gas bill will be a lot higher than that lah every 3 months.
We would love to have a gas hot water system but it would cost us $4000 to install that system because of the layout of our house.
Tapi sebab our hot water system uses solar with electric boost, tu yang our gas bill murah and electric bill tinggi, hehehe.
And I pulak memang suka masak guna oven, especially long slow cooking in the oven, memang our electricity bill takkan turun lah kan.
I kena start belajar masak kek kukus, kuih muih kukus, daging kambing panggang style kukus, ayam kukus….
Hikhikhikhikhik…..

I pulak masak crustless quiche yg recipe nya dicedok dr blog S2B hari ni...hehehe...ada few friends yg nk recipe tu, so I share the recipe with them oso lah....
pasal utility bills tu, kalau kt m'sia I alert jugak lah. kt sini I x tahu berapa tariff electricity, water bills semua tu. sbb semuanya free (rmh company kan...). We all cuma kena bayar house phone, internet & guna prepaid phone line je! rasa2nya jimat sgt...
eh, daging kambing panggang kukus nya style?? hehehe...
boleh ke kukus kambing? hihi
kat Msia x sure jimat guna gas atau elekrik...main hantam je
Your bills are definately cheaper than NZ.If only my family utility bills are as low as yours, I rasa 3months once I menabung the difference, dapat jugak I add my LV handbag collection..hahahaha.Anyways, our gas and electricity kat sini same price.Come to think of it, everything kat Auckland ni very expensive lar...from housing to tax to everything...*sigh*.
PS:Teringin I nak makan quiche after seeing yours...jahat mata betul!!
kami dok berlima, bil air for 6months=300++
gas for 3 months=400$
electric for 3 months=400$
rasa nya tassi lagi mahal, nasib bahagi 5, kalo x, pokai nak bayar, hehe
bertahun2 tak buat quiche.. hhmm hhmm, bila ni..???
kat sini, sah2 la gas lagi murah.. takde pulak oven lama yg guna gas kan..
electricity toksah le citer.. rumah tepi pantai @ laut china selatan ni mau melambung masa panas.. aircond..!! aircond..!!!
assalam Dik Min...terasa lah pulak bab kukus mengukus tu MIn...hehehe...maybe sebab cost of living kat sana..kot...setanding dengan income yang dapat...kalau kat Malaysia ni...cost of living berbeza sangat...kalau di Penang ni compare dengan tinggal di Alor Setar...entahlah...maybe sebab Akak yang over cautious about the utility bills kot!!Anyway....dinner looks Great Dik!
wah !! kak min tkt nyer tgk bil letrik dkt sana mahal gler ... kalo dkt msia ni lah bil letrik mcm tu sanggup guna lilin heheheh....
daging kambing panggang kukus???!!! camne tuh
Mcm simple jer non-quiche tuu :-) Boleh try nanti nii...
Lama tak ke laman LM ni, ntah2 tak ingat kita dah...
Gas ke, letrik ke, kayu api ke...semuanya perlukan duit...duit.
Kalau la duit boleh di cop, alangkah indahnya dunia, ana yg punya!
makanan yang dikukus adalah makanan yang sihat
alahaiiii
akak msk camne pun nmpak sedap... terliur
bil gas akak mmg murah yek... n boleh yek byr sampai 3bulan sekali gitu utk bil lain2
bil kat sini mahal kan? baru terasa bil kat msia murah sgt.. maunya musim winter ni guna elektrik utk hot water.. fuhhh.. kalau tak pakai hot water alamat tak mandi laa hehehe
best la kat sana leh bayar bil lebih dari 1 atau 2 bln ye kak...kalau kat sini rajin masak alamatnya sebulan, 2 tong la gas hehehe...mcm saya tinggal kat apt ni mmg ada spare extra tong, kalau tak kes naya la....apalagi kalau gas abis masa tgh bake, bantat la kek tu jwpnya tggu org anto gas dtg...tu la kena ada extra tong hahahaha....
Salam perkenalan.... I am new here. Tapi really jatuh cinta dengan Blog ni sebab banyak citer pasal masak.... Suka sangat-sangat.
kak LG, kukus tak thrill lah.atas dapo jgk. bil jgk. buat lah BBQ tiap2 mlm. pakai arang aje kan.lagi muarah.
Pendragon,
I actually wanted to make that crustless quiche tau tp terus pulak tukar ke this quiche or else memang 'seram' aje sbb our dinners sama, hahaha.
Best nya kan bila company yg bayar the utility bills, tak payah susah payah fikir kan :-)
Kak Kasih,
Kalau I kukus kambing, mau sampai besok tak siap2 kot or terus masuk Cik Tong sebab inedible, hahaha.
Shereen,
I heard from PIL yg baru balik dr NZ that even your petrol is way more expensive than here in OZ. Definitely cannot move to NZ lah like that.
But tax here in OZ is so high as well esp income tax, memang cut throat betul!
Zul,
Erk! Teruk jugak ye bills in Tassie! I am so glad we live in Perth esp when it's Winter time, our electricity bills for heaters tak lah teruk sgt sbb Winter here is mild :-)
Mulan,
Masa I kecik2 dulu Mak I guna oven gas. But skrg ni kat OZ, oven gas dah muncul semula and ramai jugak yg guna oven gas ni. But I lagi suka guna electric oven ni, senang nak control I rasa :-).
Kak Watie,
cost of living kat sini pun tinggi jugak. Gaji memang tinggi but income tax sgt2 lah tinggi nya banding dgn Msia so after tax, gaji kecik balik, hehehe.
Tu yg saya masak hari2 instead of makan kat luar slalu sbb nak jimat duit. And kalau tak nak makan kat luar, kenalah masak apa yg hubby and anak2 suka which mostly kena guna oven nak masak. I think in a way cheaper bayar bil electric dr bayar bil restoran ni.
Kukus2 ni pulak I tak terer, hehehe
June,
hehehe...Ni kira tak banyak sgt2. Bila Winter time, naik balik sbb pakai heaters most time kan.
Yazreina,
I was juct joking :-)
Aizura,
memang simple aje sbb you basically can put anything you want in the filling :-)
Zana,
kalau lah duit boleh petik kat pokok, alangkah indahnya kan. Masa tu baru semua orang berlumba2 tanam pokok, hehehe
pB,
memang betul tu! Tapi I pulak yg malas nak mengukus, hahaha
Dana,
bil2 kat sini semua depends on company yg jaga so tu yg diaorang kutip ikut diaorang nak sebulan or dua bulan sekali or 3 bulan or 6 bulan terus, hehehe. Kita aje lah kena pandai save duit utk bayar lump sum tu :-)
Umi,
Nasib baik masa Winter tak berpeluh kan so kalau nak mandi seminggu sekali pun takpe, hahaha.
Zuraida,
Kat sini yg bestnya gas direct ikut pipe gas so tak payah fikir kena ada tong gas semua. Memang takkan habis lah. Cuma kalau kita tak bayar bil gas, dia akan potong, masa tu baru lah habis gas, hehehe
Nor,
Salam singgah ke blog I ni. Thanks ye sbb sudi baca and suka tengok my blog :-)
Shahlin,
hahaha...arang pun nak kena beli gak. Pastu mahal jugak. Pastu, sure mengamuk hubby I kalau dia kena masak dinner every nite sbb dia sorang yg terer masak pakai arang ni, hahaha.
