First day of Spring on Saturday

Since we weren’t going to any open house this weekend, The Other half and I decided to spend this weekend beautifying the garden.

And since dah spent so much at Bunnings buying the mulch and soil and compost and seedlings, better use them promptly kan.

So, pagi2 Sabtu after bfast, we all dah keluar meninjau our neglected gardens.

This was how the garden looked like pre-makeover.

Berserabut dengan weeds and errant grass and unkempt plants.

Our no dig gardens. One has been madeover a few weeks ago but I haven’t planted anything in it yet sebab penat puasa and then sibuk raya.

The one on the right dah penuh dengan pegaga and near-dead chili plant and near-dead celery.

this small vege patch pulak has been taken pver by weeds.

IMG_0334

My first job was to pull out all the near dead plants, salvaged some of the pegaga and replanting them in another vege patch and then pulling out all the weeds.

Punyalah banyak gilers weeds, macam tak habis2, hehehe.

Then, the Other half did the make over by adding some more compost, soil and mulch to the garden bed.

The ‘new’ garden bed.

Luckily we have a very good helper in the form of Miss 8. memang betul2 terer dia kerja tadi.

IMG_0355

Aerating the garden bed…

Picking the sugar snap peas.

IMG_0340

Mixing the seed raising mix.

IMG_0348

Where was Miss 13 at this time?

Still in bed! Smile Budak tu memang, kalau weekends aje, mesti nak sleep in.

After 4 hours bertungkus lumus kat the back gardens tadi, this was what we achieved.

IMG_0358

Plenty of seeds planted and kept in the green house. We planted bok choy, chili, eggplant, watermelons, sage, mint, coriander, sunflowers, beetroot, carnations, strawberries, okra, snapdragons, snake beans.

and also the basil seedlings.

IMG_0360

The capsicums.

IMG_0361

the zucchinis.

IMG_0362

and the cucumbers.

IMG_0363

The Other Half also berkerja keras menanggalkan the shade cloth yang dah koyak sana sini over the pergola and taking down some of the rotted wood of the pergola.

Nampak gondol and way too bright that area sekarang.

lepas penat menolong we all, she spent time playing in the garden pulak.

Wan G,
Memang kena motivated kalau nak bergardening ni. I pun kdg2 motivated, kdg2 malas gilerssss, hehehe

Chekgu Azrine,
Miss 8 memang rajin tolong kat garden sejak dulu2 lagi unlike kakak dia ;-)

Aida,
masa we all Winter, I pulak menyampah tengok your pot garden sbb ada macam2, hehehee....

Susumanis,
I ada anak 2 aje tapi memang berbeza betul perangai. Kalau anak 10, mau penuh uban my head :D

babybooned,
as long as you cook for her afterwards, she'll help you anytime :-D

Net,
memang best, tapi part menjaga dari kena makan serangga tu yg tak best :-)

RedRose,
I guess when living in a country where cost of labour is expensive, tu yg cuba buat segala nya. Kalau nak hire orang setiap masa, memang pokai lah we all, hehehe

Sue,
Waaaikumsalam. Kalau tanaman tu semua menjadi, definitely I akan upload, hehehe

June,
I pun suka boot Miss 8 tu. Every Winter kat sini, memang keluar segala mcm gum boots/wellingtons yg comel2.

CathJ,
It's Spring here currently, that's why we suddenly felt so motivated to spend time in the garden :-).
