2 cooks’ lasagna

Last night for dinner, The Other Half and I made lasagne.

It’s been a lonnnnggggg time since the last time we cooked together so it was really nice to have him in the kitchen helping.

He helped because dah kesuntukan masa nak buat lasagne from scratch so terpaksalah guna khidmat dia untuk tolong I kacau the bechamel sauce while I prepared everything else.

But since dia cuma boleh guna 1 tangan aje, tak banyak jugak lah yang dia boleh buat.

But he did a very good job at stirring the bechamel sauce non stop! Which I hate doing Smile.

Satu hari suntuk we all busy dengan the garden kan so we had a very late lunch, tu yang start masak dinner pun lambat.

Dah lah start lambat, pastu tak tau nak masak apa yang semua orang akan makan until Miss 13 said, “why don’t you cook the lasagne sheets that you just bought?

I pun heran lah, tanya dia, “You like lasagne?

She said, “yes!

There are so many things that she doesn’t particularly like to eat so when she says that she likes lasagne, terus lah I masak lasagna for dinner that night.

Nasib baik I have a big casserole dish or else memang dah tumpah2 the kuah everywhere, hehehe….

I used beef mince and sausage mince for the meat sauce.

And then, dah lah kesuntukan masa, I pergi buat bechamel sauce yang a bit complicated pulak tu but it was worth it though sebab sangat sedap, hehehe….

I used this recipe for the bechamel sauce. I guna ready made pasta sauce untuk the meat sauce.

It was very creamy and cheesy though. The Other Half kata just how he likes his lasagne.

I can’t remember when was the last time I made lasagna sebab malas nak buat, heeeeee….

We ended up eating dinner at 7.30 which was an hour later than our usual dinner time of 6.30 so semua dah kelaparan!

Kalau makan dinner at 6.30, by 7.30 I dah boleh tutup dapur.

No more masak2 after I dah tutup dapur.

Sape2 yang lapar and nak buat air, pandai2 lah buat sendiri, hehehe…

Orang kat Malaysia waktu ni, baru aje habis minum petang kan, kahkahkahkahkah…….

Your lasagna reminds me of Moussaka with Béchamel sauce and all. Nanti boleh buat la while terung still murah.

Italian-American version of Lasagna usually made with Ricotta mixture instead of Bechamel sauce. It's really easy, just mix Ricotta with eggs and Parmesan and/or Mozzarella-similar to simple ravioli fillings. So memang senang la kalau meat sauce guna jar sauce and no-boil lasagna sheet, it would be ready in a pinch.

Ummu Madihah,
memang recipe bechamel sauce yg ini a bit leceh sikit tu yg ambik masa nak buat the lasagna. Ha'ah, i cuma guna timun n red capsicum aje :-)

Mamasyaza,
memang sedap tp so rich, makan sikit dah kenyang, hehehe

Huda,
hahaha...tengok gambar dah tau sedap sgt2 ye ;-)

Nekcik,
Kalau buat lasagne ni memang kena make sure lasagne sheets tu kena kambus fully dgn bechamel sauce and the meat sauce, kalau tak, dia akan keras. Pastu, the meat sauce dia kena berkuah lebih sikit so dpt diserap dek lasagna sheets masa tgh masak tu so dia lembut.

Joijoi,
ada setengah orang rebus separa lasagna sheets tu utk elak dia keras. Tapi sepatutnya tak payah, cuma kena make sure semua lasagne sheets tu betul2 terkambus dgn becahmel sauce and meat sauce tu lah. Pastu, meat sauce tu kena bnyk kuah utk masakkan lasagne sheets tu.

Unaizah,
anything cheesey is definitely yummy kan ;-)

Ana,
we all memang dinner awal, slalunya around 6. Tapi skrg Maghrib masuk lambat, so dinner we all pun push ke 6.30 lah. Paling lambat pun pukul 7, hehehe.

Aida,
kalau rumah you dekat, you kena tunggu I update blog baru dtg bawak pinggan, hehehe...

T,
I've tried the ricotta lasagne version before but my family likes the bechamel sauce version more. I guess ricotta is not as creamy as bechamel :-).
I really want to try making moussaka one day. Kena tunggu height of Summer when terung is cheap :-).

Dana,
Cuba jgn tak cuba, boleh makan banyak2 kalau buat sendiri kan :-)

Azrey,
lasagne ni memang sedap kan :-)

Kniedaz,
Salam. Lasagne ni tak susah nak buat cuma ambik masa panjang sikit nak buat. Kalau tgh in a rush, baik beli aje kat kedai :-)

SOHO Mama,
I slalu beli san remo lasagne sheets tapi tak pernah teringat nak cuba ikut their recipe, hehehe.
