His new bestie

This is The Other Half’s new best friend.

He keeps it close to his heart, skin to skin, an hour in the morning, an hour in the evening and anytime in between when he feels like it.

Bini dia pun dia tak peluk lama macam tu hari2, muahahahaha….

When we first started our exercise regime, we all guna heart rate monitor watch saje. Every minit, kena press the button on the watch so the watch can calculate our pulse and then from that, it calculates how many calories we are burning during the exercise. It’s not that accurate sebab kadang2 we all terlupa nak press the button while termengah2 exercising. Kadang2, press button bagai nak rak tapi it couldn’t detect our pulse. Macam mana lah nak detect kan sebab tengah buat ‘jumping jack’ sambil press the button so bergerak2 lah the watch.

But, walaupun tak accurate sangat, it was still good enough for us to agak2 berapa calories we have burnt (so, boleh tau berapa banyak food we can eat that day or can’t eat that day, hahaha).

Then one day while we were surfing the net, we found an online shop yang jual polar heart rate monitor (HRM) yang agak murah so we bought 1 for him and 1 for me tooSmile.

And now, everytime we all exercise, we will strap on the polar HRM onto our chest and then put on the watch on our wrist and then voila, the HRM will ‘talk’ to the watch and start counting our heart rate (instead of pulse) and calculate our calories burnt from there.

Tak payah susah payah tekan button lagi dah, hehehehe. Everything will be done through electrical signals? between those two things.

And I found out after using the polar HRM that:

1. kalau I exercise cardio dengan Maya Wii for 45 minutes, I will burn around 225 calories macam tu.

2. kalau I buat Upper body exercise with Maya for 30 minutes, I only burnt a meagre 130 cals saje!

3. kalau I buat core body exercise with Maya for 30 minutes, I will burn around 170 cals aje.

4. kalau I buat dusting, vacuuming, cleaning and scrubbing the kitchen cabinets and sink and stove top for 110 minutes (with lepak2 sekejap in between), I will burn about 300 calories.

5. kalau I sental and scrubbed and cleaned the toilets and the bathrooms and then mopped the floors for 60 minutes, I will burn around 220 cals gitu.

(btw, the calories burnt tak sama for everyone tau. This is only accurate for someone my age, my weight and my height.)

So, you rasa kan, exercise mana yang patut I buat selalu ye untuk kekal langsing?

I guess kalau I nak rumah I berkilat2 from the kitchen sink to the bathroom sink and without a single dust present anywhere sambil melansingkan badan, bolehlah I buat exercise no 4 dan no 5 hari2 kan Smile.

(Hikhikhikhik….rasa macam tak kuasa aje I nak membuatnya pulak pulak….).

Next, I nak strap on the HRM when I go shopping so I can tell The Other Half yang I wasn’t spending/burning money, I was only burning calories/ exercising aje, hehehehehe.

And our dinner pulak, berapa calories do you think I consumed malam ni? Open-mouthed smile

Yg no. 4 & 5 tu mmg x kuasa betul kan kalau buat hari2!! tapi yg tu jugak lah yg burn paling byk kalori.

2 in 1 lah mcm tu, sambil memberus dapur & toilet, sambil exercise =) berkilat2 lah dapur & toilet kalau exercise cara ni =)

lg, i rasa the myfitnesspal not only help me to reduce my weight but reduce my laziness as well..now klu calories burnt fr exercise x cukup..i dgn sendiri merajinkan diri menyental itu ini..nak kasi cukup calories burnt punya psl..haha

It's good to know that house chores can burn up a lot of calories. I kan malas exercise, so by doing keje rumah kira mcm i dah exercise gak le kan hihi...

My previous PT pun suggest beli ni masa join gym dulu and sgt bagus okay jam nih..macam hubby u jugak lah, I makan, minum, tido ng Polar hehehe pastu ade history calorie burning seme, so motivation nak lose weight tu sentiasa ade.. kadang2 ade lah hehe

baru beli the same thing tapi brand garmin as a birthday gift to my husband. My husband dulu sblm kawin was a runner, tapi bila lepas kawin jadi malas pulak so ni yg nak motivate dia balik,kot2lah lps tu wife dia pulak termotivate sama nak berlari jgk dr asyik menternak lemak je 24 jam hehehe

I wish I suka buat benda2 no 4 n 5 tu hari2 so rumah I akan sentiasa cantik n sedap aje dipandang mata, hehehe. Tapi tahap kemalasan I memang tinggi sgt2! :-D

hikhikhik...I pun slalu gak tambah exercise on that myfitnesspal bila I buat housework yg menyental bagai tu. Pastu rasa happy sbb boleh makan lebih, heheehe

Memang betul tu. I pun kalau tengah malas nak exercise, merajinkan diri kemas rumah, vaccum n dust, sental segala bagai for a couple of hours. Pastu rasa seronok sgt, hehehe

Ours pun ada history of calories burnt. I want to try it one day wearing it for 24 hours just to see how many calories I normally use up in a day. It does give us a happy feeling looking at the calorie count ticking merrily :-D.

Cool...kat msia quite expensive benda alah ni, about RM500. I bought mine kat melbourne rasanya $120+ last year. Tak terpikir pulak nak beli online :)

oh please please please experiment for me... how much calories can be burnt at the malls... I'm dying to know.. (good to know that cleaning the house burn more calories than exercise... good decision for me to decide to do the cleaning myself) :)

huhu...klu ayu kena buat no.4 n 5 tu hari2 mmg leh kurus kot.mslhnya dalm sehari je kena buat lbh dr 2x coz ada tukang sepah.sudahnya dr rajin trs malas nak buat sbb asyik ngadap benda yg sama dr pagi smpai mlm.uuwwaa....

hehehe...I pun kalau kena buat benda yg sama 2-3 kali sehari, mau lah lepas tu dah tak larat nak kemas lagi. Terus stop utk seminggu kot :-D.

eh bagus la alat tu kan! I like! tapi I ni exercise pun hampeh takda. jalan kaki beberapa km dalam kawasan sekolah (sekolah I luas jugak) & naik tangga 3 tingkat pi balik kelas kira tak? hehe :D

jalan kaki tu kira exercise lah jugak. My hubby tadi strapped on the HRM masa dia bagi lecture for 2 hours. And he said it burnt 150 cals per hour just by standing in front of the class aje! hikhikhik
