Another garden update (tak laraaattttt…. :-))

It is quite good sebenarnya when The Little Misses tak payah pergi sekolah ni sebab I can also take leave from tugas pagi2 of getting them ready for school and jadi Mak Supir.

So, boleh lah I spent that time in the garden instead.

But I wasn’t doing anything exciting in the garden pun, only those fiddly chores that you have to do whether you like it or not like weeding, watering and deadheading the roses.

Every time we all water and fertilise the vegetables, I rasa all the weeds pun bersorak gumbira ria jugak kan sebab diaorang pun dapat tempias the water and the food. Luckily lah the weeds bukan jenis yang deep rooted so senang lah nak pull them out tadi. Kalau nak the plants hidup subur, kenalah rajin buat weeding kan, heeee….

Watering pun satu kerja yang I tak berapa suka. Sebabnya we all guna rain tank water which is at the side of the house. Kalau nak water the garden and the pots, I kena hook up the long hose to the raink water tank tap and then tadah the water from the hose into watering cans to avoid water wastage. Then I kena carry the watering cans around the house to water the plants. Penat weh nak tunggu the cans penuh and then nak hangkut the cans! Each watering can boleh isi 9 litres so kadang2 it takes 10 cans to water all the plants so bayang kan lah betapa muscly nya my biceps and triceps after that! hehehehe.

People slalu tanya how come our sayur gumuk2 belaka and semua menjadi.

Actually, banyak jugak yang we all tanam tak berapa menjadi especially yang direct from seeds. I guess we didn’t use the right seed growing soil kot, tu yang semua tak kuasa nak bercambah.

But since we all guna the greenhouse and The Other Half started using coir + really good potting mix as his seed raising soil base, the result is unbelievable. All the seeds dah bercambah and tengah galak bercambah. We are so happy.

The cress, the mustard and the snow pea sprouts. Lepas ni boleh makan salad hari2 Smile.

IMG_4559

The marigolds, carnations and sunflowers.

(Entah bila dia jadi Mat Bunga, muahahaha.).

IMG_4560

The bok choys and the pak choys.

IMG_4572

My most prized possesion (apart from all of the chilli plants Winking smile) are these 2 tini bean plants. They are not the usual common garden beans, they are kacang botol. The Other Half pernah cuba tanam them dulu but tak berjaya hidup. These beans I yg tanam and Alhamdulillah, dah bercambah. Happy sangat2!

IMG_4561

The Other Half is so happy bila every morning dia pergi jenguk his green house, more seeds have sprouted!

(Now, I yang pening kepala nak fikir nak tanam kat mana lah all those seedlings! We haven’t got any more rooms in the garden for them.)

And another thing, The Other Half ni rajin membaja, he will do it every fortnightly. And this is the baja yang we all guna sejak dari dulu lagi, Seasol concetrate which is 100% seaweed based and Australian made and is really good. Kalau you all nak tau more about it, just go to this link.

(He bought the 10l bottle and then bila nak guna, he’ll mix it with water to dilute it and then siram. Because it’s a concentrate, you dont need to use much.)

But since it’s seaweed based, every time lepas dia habis membaja, I akan rasa nak termuntah sebab bau hanyir laut+ikan! Urgh!

The good thing with this Seasol, you don’t have to wait to eat your vegetables after fertilising, straight away boleh guna the sayur (but still kena basuh dulu, hehehe).

IMG_4563

Lihat lah dunia, my hoa lat chilli finally dah berbuah…

(Kaya lah I lepas ni, hahahaha…..)

IMG_4564

The round purple chilli pun dah menunjukkan hasil.

IMG_4566

The joi choy. (I rasa macam sama aje dengan all the other choys… heeeee).

IMG_4568

Our strawberries are fruiting a bit late this year but I guess better late than never kan.

IMG_4571

One of the apple hybrids have started to fruit but I tak tau jenis apa yg ini. Nampak mcm granny smith aje kan.

Now…can anyone guess what flower this is?

IMG_4582

First time I tengok bunga ni keluar, so pretty but so tiny!

Assalamualaikum, Kak Min, i ni selalu sgt teruja yg teramat2 bila tgk you all punya tanaman. I tertanya-tanya, tanah jebis apa yg Kak Min gunakan utk garden bed? I nak try kat sini, lagipun tanah kat Malaysia ni especially kalau kawasan perumahan, eventhough tanahnya dapatlah sekangkang kera, tapi bila digali penuh dengan sisa batu buangan, maklumlah kontraktor Malaysian ni lebih suap dari ikhlas buat kerja. So terpaksa la i berfikir nak buat garden bed, ada la sket2 yg usahakan, tapi tak berapa memberangsangkan. Tu yg nak tanya Kak Min kalau tak keberatan tanha jenis apa, then cemana nak menjayakan seedlings and seeds dgn jayanya....i ni mmg gila gardening. So peaceful....tima kasih.

Salam kak LG,
apa khabar kak?
Seronok dgar cerita brkebun. Paling suka bila lihat tanaman bercambah... sooo pretty, rasa macam anak sendiri utk dijaga-jaga. hehe..
Depan rumah baru tu, sekangkang kera saja. hehe, tapi saya nak brkebun pula. Tak tau cara nak jadikan ia nampak cantik dan kemas. Anyway kak, Go green! hehe..

Aunty LG,
Can't you attach drip lines to your rain water tank? I've seen it done at some friend's homes in Sydney. Save you the back-aching trips. Oh yes....we love Seasol. purrr....meow!

JieJ,
Bila I malas masak, I tayang gambar kebun. Bila I malas berkebun n masak, I tayang gamabr the girls, hehehe...
Nasib baik orang still suka tengok all the photos kan ;-).

kak Kasih,
muahaha...kalau dah kaya, bolehlah slalu2 I balik Msia and belanja you all makan kan, hehehe.
Apple Kak Kasih cantik walaupun sebijik aje :-)

Jai,
I am glad sebab kebun we all, ramai yg mula naik semangat nak menanam ni :-)

Kak CT,
wassalam. Kat sini pun sama jugak, cik siput suka sgt makan tunas2 pokok so memang slalu kena letak snail baits kalau nak merasa hasil tanaman, hehehe.

blu4sky,
Salam.memang seronok tengok the seeds dah bercambah but I really have no idea nak tanam all those seedlings kat mana. Hubby I kata tanam aje kat mana2, pandai lah dia tu, hehehe.

Alia,
oh bukan lavender, dia one of the herbs yg I tanam :-).

Abbott,
nanti I buat 1 special entry utk you ye macam mana nak buat garden bed and mcm mana nak raise seedlings.
Kalau tanah keliling rumah tak brapa bagus, memang bagus nak buat garden beds ni sebab lagi senang sayur nak hidup.
I pun rasa sangat peaceful kan bila tengok hijau aje semua and bila semua tanaman dah mengeluarkan hasil.

mazlin,
sure seronok bila the veges n herbs your hubby tanam dah boleh dipetik kan :-).

Shiela,
Salam. thanks for the compliment. Alhamdulillah...

Zul,
I pun rasa granny smith jugak lah. Bolehlah masak apple pie once dia dah ripe :-)

Indah,
Salam. Alhamdulillah you nak pindah rumah bertanah :-).Kalau nak buat landscape ok jugak kan tapi memang kena betul2 fikir and cari idea nak manfaatkan segala ceruk laman tu so boleh dpt tanam bnyk benda kan :-).

Angelina,
we can but we have quite a lot of garden beds and so knowing my hubby, sure akan berlengkar keliling rumah the drip system. He said it helps him to bulk up his arm muscles, hahahah.

Lin,
bunga sejenis herba jugak but not misai kucing :-)

Kak Zai,
chilli purple kalau sebelah red strawberry sure cantik kan :-).
Bukan misai kucing though :-)

Whitecappucino,
I kena ambik gambar different parts of the gardens pastu different tanaman baru orang tak jemu tengok kan, hehehe

Nani,
I pun sekali nampak, mcm rupa kiwi kan but apple hijau :-)

Sufatiha,
Alhamdulillah :-). Pandai masak sbb family suka makan, pandai berkebun sbb hubby yg suka berkebun n I terikut sama minat :-)

Atie,
Salam. Kalau kat sini, ramai yg suka berkebun ni so susah lah kot nak dpt keluar paper peladang berjaya dari Msia tu, hehehe

kalau kt rmh lama dulu byk pokok semalu. susah betul nk cabut, ada duri. I guna playar utk tarik keluar...akar dia pulak jenis kuat. wah, ada sunflower. I mula2 kawin dulu rajin tanam pokok bunga. salah satunya sunflower la. tapi skrg susah betul nk cari biji benih sunflower. kalau dekat2 ni, mau je I pergi risik2 anak pokok sunflower ni kt akak!
