I stayed at home with The Little Misses today sbb The Other Half had work to do at uni. The only fun thing we did today was going to the library and going grocery shopping, so fun kan, hehehehe... Benda2 yang remeh temeh macam tu memang selalunya I yang kena buat so I had to drag them as well. But they love going to the library so it was fun for them and I let them pushed the trolley at the supermarket which they thought was fun too, hahahaha.... Benda macam tu pun diaorang think it's fun, what a deprived childhood they have hey :-).

And since I had the whole day at home and I was too lazy to clean the house, I baked a cake instead! Actually sebab I had to use up the cream cheese which will expire in 3 days so kenalah make something with it kan. And since I ni memang jenis yang probably setahun sekali aje buat cheesecake, I might as well make it today kan.

I made choc swirl baked cheesecake but since takde choc biscuits, I just used biskut marie aje as the base. And I only made separuh adunan and replaced some of the sugar with condensed milk. And it turned out quite good still. But probably next time I nak guna more melted butter in the biscuit crumbs sbb mcm tak cukup aje because it's still way too crumbly.

Miss 5 was sitting next to me while I was taking the cake out of the tin. She kept on saying, "It looks really yummy Mummy! I really want to have a little taste of it. Remember, you told me that I'm your food tester!" So, sebab sian kat tikus rambut brown sorang ni, I took a spoonful of it for her to taste. Nasib baik lah Daddy tikus kepala botak tu tak sedar we were having a food taste, kalau tak, sure dia dah nganga mulut sama! Hehehehe..... But he had 2 slices for dessert so I guess sedap lah agaknya tu.

Selepas kena korek dengan Mummy tikus and anak tikus :-).

And ini pulak our dinner tonite. Nasi putih makan dengan sardin, ayam goreng, masak kicap telur and sayur. Sedapnya sardin ni kan :-).

And ini saje nak tayang the lemons from our garden. Some of them gugur sendiri even still a bit green, don't ask me why! Tak tau lagi nak buat apa dengan lemons ni, kat pokok tu berlambak2 lagi yang still green.

When I think about it, bagus jugak ada The Little Misses ni kan. Because bile I malas masak and no scrumptious dinner to show on the blog, I can always put up photos of them instead, hehehehe. Kalau takde The Little Misses, I would have to put up photos of either myself or The Other Half to ganti gambar dinners. And I don't think we are that photogenic to merit the honour of having our photos in the blog. And I don't think the blog readers out there nak tengok gambar we all kan, hehehe ;-). So, in times like tonite bila I cuma masak instant paratha and reheating frozen curry for dinner, The Little Misses do come in handy.....

So, layan aje lah ye gambar diaorang malam ni ye. The photos were taken yesterday when they went to the Shipwreck Museum in Fremantle. Sebab tu lah they like going to Daddy's work sebab there's so many wonderful museums and places to explore in Fremantle tu. Most of the time, The Little Misses think that:

Daddy= FUN
Mummy= NOT FUN

Waiting for the train to take them to Freo. They had to catch the trains yesterday sbb Mummy had to use the car. Ni lah susah nya bila ada 1 kereta aje, hehehe...

But biasalah kan kids!. Bila Mummy buat treasure hunt, organize their birthday parties and cakes and masak best2 baru lah Mummy ni loads of fun kan :-).

We were watching a UK tv show called 'The Antique Roadshow' petang tadi while I was cooking dinner. For sape yang tak tahu tu, this show is about people bringing their antiques to be valued by these group of antique experts.

Anyway, to cut the story short, I said to The Other Half, "your ancestors came from UK, how come you haven't got any antiques for us to sell for the money?" And do you know what his answer is?.....
"I've got one antique item... It's you! 13 years ago I got you for $100, I wonder how much I'll get for you now? Hmmm...."

Chet!!!! Memang lah My Other Half tu, mentang2 lah I ni makin tua, ada ke dia panggil I antique!!!! I know The Little Misses think I'm ancient, hehehehe.... Sekarang Daddy dia pun kata I ancient :-(. Lepas I threatened tak nak masak dinner, terus dia kata he was just joking. Tau takut! Hahahahaha...... But I know he was just joking and he knew that I knew he was just joking :-). Well, I hope so anyway!!!! Right Dear?

So, to teach him a lesson, for dinner I masak this dish I called "Ya-Rabbi-I-malas-betul-nak-masak-1-pot" dish, wahahahahaha...... Basically I just put whatever I can find into the pan :-). Nasib baik lah they all ate it without asking too much question except The Little Misses asked "What's this meat Mummy?" when they saw some kind of meat they've never seen before on their plate. I answered, "Burger meat, cut up!". I found frozen burger meat in the freezer yang dah bertahun bertapa dlm freezer tu so I thought that I might as well use them kan dari terbuang. Tak sampai setengah jam dah siap masak dari first potong bawang to matikan api, sape lah yang tak suka masak macam ni kan, especially me, hehehehe....

Our "Ya-Rabbi-I malas-betul-nak-masak-1-pot" dinner :-).

The Other Half said to me, "we are so prehistoric! we are the only people on earth without a NAVMAN probably because you won't let me buy one." Then I said to him, "why do you need one?" Then he said, "see, you won't let me buy it." Then I said, "Where do you want to go with it? And I'm a bl***y good navigator anyway, I haven't got us lost anywhere so far!" Then he said, "Oh yeah, you are right, you are an excellent navigator, that's why we don't need to buy one, hahahaha....." Man!!!! D'oh!!!!

But it is true, I've heard a lot of people complained about how their wives/partners can't read maps/street maps at all and since their wives/partners can't read maps so they think all females can't read maps. I really take offence at that! I think I'm quite good at it and I've been the navigator on a lot of long journeys. And The Other Half is very happy for me to be his navigator because he knows that he can rely on me not to get lost :-). I admit I don't have photographic memory of the map unlike The Other Half and I can't read maps upside down unlike The Other Half but who needs that right, hehehe....

Cuma bila I read the streetmaps I kena make sure yang the map is the right way as the way we are going. Or else I'll get my right and left and north and south confused a bit. So, bila I read maps, I akan pusing2kan the map book so it's aligned with the direction of the car :-). Pelik ke my quirk ni? Or ramai jugak yang macam I? And kalau nak pergi mana2 for the first time, I kena tengok maps tu banyak2 kali before I can commit it to memory. That's why I don't like being the navigator and the driver at the same time sebab I can't look at the map book while I'm driving, hehehehe. It's one or the other, tak boleh dua2 ;-).

To our dinner tonite....

The Other Half's been asking for pizza since last week so I had to make pizza tonite. Seafood pizza (as usual) for him and poloni pizza for the Little Misses. I tried buat cheesy crust but tak jadi sangat lah sebab the lipatan crust tu ternganga pulaknya lepas masuk oven. Oh well, next time can try again kan :-).

Untuk I pulak nya, dinner melayu, mee goreng seafood. I ni kan pelik betul lah, tak boleh nampak orang makan noodles, terus teringin nak makan. Dari hari Khamis lepas lagi i dah teringin nak makan noodles ni sejak nampak ada orang ni makan noodles kat food court bu baru hari ni sempat beli bahan2 nya. So, even though I had to make pizzas for everyone else, sanggup jugak tu I masak mee goreng for myself sebab dah teringin, hehehehe.....

Padahal kan, if you look at the photos, the pizzas nampak lagi lah sedapnya kan bandingkan dengan mee goreng tu but I sikit pun tak teringin nak makan pizza tadi. Sikit pun I tak rasa unlike The Other Half who had a bite of my mee goreng after he's finished eating his pizza!

I wanted to post this entry last nite tapi 'Mr. & Mrs. Smith' was on tv last nite so ter'glued' pulak kat depan tv tu until late. Padahal dah berapa kali tengok that movie, but disebabkan Brad and Ange look so cute together in that movie, sanggup tengok lagi tu, hehehehe.

During Easter season ni, the shops have been selling loads and loads of chocolates in the shapes of Bunnies and eggs. I love it when they have Easter celebration and Christmas because masa ni lah they have chocolates galore at the shops. And they best time to buy the chocolates is after Easter and Christmas sbb they'll reduce it down to 50-75% off. Memang kenyang chocolates lah we all everyday sampai berbulan2 after that! And I wonder why my weight will increase during this time, hehehehe....

Anyway, sempena chocolates galore season ni, last nite I made up a treasure chocolate egg hunt for the Little Misses around the house. I ingat nak buat during the day but it was so hot yesterday so kalau I letak the chocs outside, memanglah akan melt before the Little Misses find them! And they wanted to have it at night time anyway becuase they said, "We can use the torch Mummy to find the treasures, it will be much more interesting!" I spent about 30 minutes pagi semalam mencari idea to write the clues for the treasure hunt. Then when they went out to the park in the evening, I hid the clues and the chocolates around the house. I had to make sure yang the clues are not too hard and easy enough for Miss 5 as well. I'm going to put up the clues that I've written here so I can reuse/rewrite them for the next egg hunt. To make life easier for me kan so I don't have to think hard next time, hehehe....

The Little Misses reading the first clue.....
They took turns in reading the clues, Miss 5 was so happy because she could read them as well :-).

The first clue:

"From the dining room door, take 3 steps outside and 12 steps to the right...
Unjumble NOMEL RETE
Sometimes birds build their nests in it"

It took them quite a long time to find the next clue among the branches, hehehehe... Daddy had to help as well. Torch sikit nya besar pun tak jumpa ;-).

The next clue:

"I'm a little _ _ _ _ _ _, short and stout, here is my handle, here is my spout
Find me and you will find some treasures inside me."

Habis my cabinet kena gelodah to find the teapot. :-)

The next clue:

"The rabbit and the deer are hiding in the scented grass..
Find us to find the next clue."
Kesian diaorang kena cari the rabbit choc and the deer choc among the lemongrass leaves, hehehe.....

The next clue:

"I rhyme with link, under my belly you will find an upside down thing..
Look inside me and you will see...."
Luckily Miss nearly 10 got it, so they quickly ran to the kitchen's sink :-).

The next clue:

"Surprise!!! The treasure is still hidden somewhere else :-).
This machine used to help Mummy and Daddy from fat to thin...."
After finding the clue and the eggs stuck to the eliptical machine, Miss 5 ran because she's read the next clue which says...

The next clue:

"I help you sleep at night,
You listen to me in bed
Look behind me and you'll see some eggs instead"

Tak sempat pulak nak ambil gambar Miss 5 finding the egg behind the radio in their room.

The next clue:

"Go into the room where Polly Pocket and her friends live
In the closet where they live, look inside the third drawer
What can you see? Flip through them for the hidden treasure"

Nearing the end of the treasure hunt, their bag is already full with chocolates, hehehe..

The next clue:

"Have you found all the treasures?
Why don't you relax now and sit on the futon...
Look Left, Look Right, Look Left, Look Right, Look Under Me....
Can you see what I see?"

Miss 5 reading

The next clue:

"Listen closely.....
Can you hear the phone ringing?
Find me quickly before I stop singing!"

I hid the house phone with the rest of the treasures so the Little Misses had to follow the sound of the phone ringing, hehehe

I think they really enjoyed solving the clues and finding all the chocs last nite. They better be because that's it for their entertainment and activities this school holidays! Hahahahahaha....

Malam ni cuma nak tayang our sempoi dinner, only finger food aje sebab lunch tadi dah makan berat (leftovers from last nite's dinner kan :-)). Kononnya nak berdiet lah, but I think with the cheesy dip, macam mana nak berdiet kan, hehehe..... Best betul makan2 sambil tengok The Dark Knight on dvd. The Little Misses we all dah awal2 suruh masuk tidur and not to come out at all so we could watch an M movie without them. And the Little Misses pun tau yang they are not allowed to watch the movie with us so seronok tengok citer tadi without any interruption :-).

Tonite's food at the 'movie', hehehe... chili con queso (or chili with cheese). Makan pulak dengan corn chips, uish memang lah sedap sungguh :-). Rasa dia yang lemak berkrim and pedas so memang tak menang tangan lah nak dip the corn chips in it.

Friday, 10 April 2009

It's Good Friday holiday today so best betul boleh lepak2 pagi ni, tak payah kelam kabut nak pergi kerja :-). And it's going to be a very long weekend as well sebab Monday pun cuti for Easter Monday. Memanglah liat balik nak start kerja after such a long weekend ni kan, hehehe... Even Christmas pun tak cuti panjang macam ni! The Other Half has decided nak lepak2 aje and nak bermalas2an aje weekend ni which I totally agree with :-).

But dalam melepak2 hari ni, sempat lah jugak masak a few things for dinner. We've invited Sheri and family and Salina n Hubby for dinner so tak kan lah nak bagi they all makan fish n chips aje kan ;-). So I went all out and prepared an Indian feast (for me kalau dah lebih dari 1 lauk tu dah kira feast lah!). The Other Half wanted me to make the butter chicken and the rice pilaf again sebab dah seminggu tak makan nasi, hehehe. So I made the pilaf, butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, cucumber raita and also indian mixed veges for dinner tonite. I think it went alright sebab semua makan bertambah, hahahaha.....

Then for dessert, we had the cake that I made the other day when I made the cupcakes. Since we are not having a birthday party this year for Miss 10-days-to-10, so tadi since ramai orang, we decided to 'celebrate' it a bit earlier which she was so happy with. Dapatlah jugak dia dengar orang nyanyi the birthday song for her tadi :-). Lega Mummy dah tak payah susah2 fikir nak buat party lepas ni, hehehehe. But I still have to make her a birthday cake on the real date itself sebab dari dulu dia dah mintak for me to make her a pavlova on her birthday. At least tak lah susah nak buat pavlova ni kan!

Some photos from tonite. Terlupa pulak nak ambil gambar the lauk pauk and the rice lepas dah senduk onto my plate, dah lapar sangat masa tu, hehehehe.....

The home-made cake decorated by a novice who will never become a pro, hahahaha.... (but she's always a pro cake maker in the Little Misses' eyes :-))

The Little Assistants who helped put the sugar flowers strategically on the cake to make sure that Mummy's cake look presentable :-).

The yummy food (bila lagi nak puji diri sendiri kan :-))

The birthday girl (10 days early)

The 2 sisters :-).
