Raya food

Ramai jugak rupa2nya yang terminat dengan project lavender hedge we all tu ye.

But I have no idea bila dia akan berbunga, probably next Spring kot. They are still very small.

The Other Half kata entah bila lah agaknya the plants nak tinggi cantik sampai boleh di trim.

3 of the lavenders are already flowering but lain sgt bunganya dengan the lavenders yang kat kebun we all ni.

I’ll take some close up photos nanti ye.

I rasa kalau lah lavender tu boleh hidup kat Msia, sure ramai orang yang tanam lavenders keliling rumah kan!

But masa tu sure dah common sgt lavenders ni sampai orang tak pandang dah kan, hehehe…

Tadi I pergi Bunnings again saje2 cuci mata and I found another type of lavender plant yang memang we all cari sejak dulu.

Different Bunnings stock different lavender types tu yang bila pergi Bunnings yang dekat rumah we all tak jumpa the type we wanted.

So tadi bila jumpa yang what we’ve been looking for, terus lah I terasa nak beli banyak2.

But then The Other Half kata sayang pulak nak cabut the lavenders yang we all dah tanam tu.

So I ended up buying only 2 lavender plants and we’ll figure out a way to plant them at the hedge site this Saturday.

So now, there’ll be 3 different types of lavenders there, with different flowers.

I hope they’ll still look good walaupun berlainan rupa kan.

I ni pun baru lah kebelakangan ni tau yang lavenders ni banyak varieties.

Cuma 1 variety aje yang boleh guna dlm cooking, while the rest tak boleh.

Lavenders I yang dah berbunga banyak2 tu semua tak boleh guna in cooking, cuma in display aje.

Tak best betul lah!

Kalau tak, boleh I buat biskut lavender utk Raya kan!

Hahahaha…..

Malam tadi for dinner, I masak lauk raya.

But lauk raya orang malas sebab semua guna instant aje.

I made ketupat instant, rendang daging guna readymade rendang paste and sate goreng sebab malas nak menyucuk.

Rendang tu pun tak letak daun limau purut and daun kunyit sebab malas!

Tapi dapat lah jugak mengubat rindu I nak makan lauk pauk raya, hehehehe…

And sebab raya, mestilah ada dessert jugak kan.

I made brandy snaps. They are called brandy snaps but the dont have brandy in it (unless you want to add brandy in the whipped cream filling lah).

Ini dessert Mat Saleh yang popular kat OZ and NZ and the British Isles

It’s basically a crunchy gingery shell filled with whipped cream.

It was the first time the girls had ever tasted brandy snaps and they love it walaupun ada ginger in it.

Buat the shells leceh sikit sebab you have to take the batter out of the oven at the right time so the shells will be crunchy but still pliable to be wrapped around the handle of the spatula to obtain the cylindrical shape.

Dessert ni memang sangat2 menggamit kenangan lama sebab dessert ni lah yang we all hidang kat tetamu kat our wedding in Adelaide berzaman2 tahun dulu.

We made all the desserts ourselves and beramai2 tengah hari tu piped the whipping cream into the beratus shells!

It was fun!

Hahahaha…..

wow kak min.. sedap nampak desert tu.. yang tak tahan whipping cream dalam tu.. meleleh gak tengok ni.. terliur sehhh... :) lap air liur jap.. :P

Teriba teringat kuih sepit atau love letters tu. Kalau gulung2 letak whi cream agaknya lebih kurang cam tulah cuma kulit dia manislah tak letak halia.

Mak Aji pun baru ni tahu yg lavender banyak varietynya. Rupa brandy snaps tu semacam desert Italian tu ya, cuma yang itu mrk deep-fry, entah apa ke nama bendanya Mak Aji lupalah pulak, selalu tengok dalam rancangan Cake Boss kat Astro tu. Selamat raya aidiladha, macam mana ada buat korban juga ke kat sana??

Dapat la melepas rindu dgn nasi impit & sate goreng tu eh. Lavender tu dah lama sy teringin nak tanam kat Mesia ni tapi lepas baca2 kat internet, mmg ada famili lavender yg sesuai dgn cuaca Mesia tapi jenis yg x secantik di negara iklim sejuk.
