Sundays and bread

 

To tell you the truth, I love to bake breads. I just love the smell of the yeast and the dough when it’s rising and the smell of the bread when it’s cooking in the oven, just heavenly. And there’ll be times, when I really really want to make bread hari2 :-). But, kalau I buat hari2, takde sape yang nak makan sebab we’ll be so sick of eating it hari hari (but makan toast hari2 for breakfast, tak jemu pulak orang2 kat rumah ni, heran kan!).

And today was one of those days when my baking bread mood datang. Sebelum operasi kemas rumah dimulakan pagi tadi, I put all the ingredients into my trusty breadmaker and let it do the hard work while I did the other hard work of cleaning the house. By the time I dah siap cuci bilik mandi and toilets and vacuumed and dusted the whole house and cleaned and mopped the kitchen (with the help of The Little Misses and The Other Half of course), the breadmaker pun dah sudah his job of menguli and menaikkan the dough.

And this was what I made from the sweet dough, cream horns and walnut scrolls. I cuma dapat buat 6 biji cream horns aje sebab I cuma ada 6 biji acuan nya aje, hehehe. I used whipped cream for the filling. The Little Misses and The Other Half were so impressed with the shape of the bread, hahahaha…..

Miss 10 decorated it with choc rice so nampak lagi menyelerakan lah for the girls :-).

And our dinner tonite. Yes…. the sausages and the potatoes were cooked on the BBQ, tu sebab lain aje rupa nya. The Other Half masih tak bosan lagi main dengan his new toy tu, biar aje lah kan. Senang sikit kerja I tadi, boleh bergayut on the phone whilst he cooked :-)….

On a completely different matter……

Salah ke kalau kita takde sekelumit pun perasaan sayang for someone who’s your own flesh and blood? It didn’t start that way but the feelings just gradually disappear/terhakis over time after years of lying and disappointments and heart aches. People say kalau benci tu tandanya sayang and ada lah jugak perasaan for that person kan. But, bukan saje perasaan sayang, benci pun takde. Yang ada cuma this ‘I honestly don’t care anymore’ feeling. It’s such an unhealthy environment to be in the same room as this person because of all the lies behind the smiles and all the manipulative behaviours……. People say forgive and forget but it’s a bit too late for that…..

    terliur tgk cream horns tu. teringat zaman kecik2 dulu. ptg2 je mesti beli dgn mamak yg naik basikal lalu depan rumah tu.

    kdg2 terkejar-kejar takut termiss nak beli roti siput nih..

    I pun dulu suka giler tunggu Bai roti dtg rumah petang2 with his bike full of bread. Segala macam roti fresh ada. I loved roti cream dia jugak, hehehe...

  7. k.min, i've experienced the couldnt be bothered feeling to someone who's my own flesh and blood after too many heart aches too. just too tiring to even think abt it. so in the end, i couldnt care less.

    Memang selalu macam ni ke dinner LG ? Patutlah body tu maintain je.. Kalau makan nasik macam kak tie ni tentu dah jadi macam apam, hehe...

  12. uuiikkss...roti tanduk! hehehe...ayu panggil tu roti tanduk.muahahaha...ayu suka bau roti n tgk org buat roti.tp sygnya ayu kureng skit klu bab mkn roti ni/xtau nape...seksa betul nak perabihkan.

    4 last para....ayu prnh m'alaminya n till now.yup..forgive n forget but sygnya perasaan syg or pape jela dah takde dlm hati ni.so sad huh?!

    I'm experiencing it too.. tak sangka my own flesh & blood tak menghargai pengorbanan I selama ni... bukan nak mengungkit kisah lama... tapi kekadang tu, elok juga dijadikan ikhtibar....

    Now, I dengan dunia I aje, apa nak jadi dengan "dia" lantaklah....

    I tak pandai buat chiffon kek and bila I tengok yr chiffon ekk cantik aje, mmng jeles :-). Roti ni lagi senang buat nya compare dgn chiffon kek so klu u terer buat chiffon kek, surenya akan find bread making so easy, hehehe

    kalau you pergi blog 'ros-onigiri' dia ada bnyk resipi bun manis and semua jadi cantik :-). 1 tip paling penting, make sure yeast tu belum expired :-)..

    I suka roti tapi kdg2 jemu gak makan hari2, hehehe... Tapi bau dia yg I paling suka!
    Memang sedih kan bila dah takde perasaan langsung utk orang tu :-(

    I mmng suka meroti because I have a breadmaker so I don't have to uli penat2 :-).

    The bread looks so yummy!! I am so gonna get a breadmaker soon-ish;)

    Actually, I wanted to comment on yr last post on the pizza but there's some cock-up with the internet connection & the comments just refused to be 'published'..anyway, I wanted to say that I like that kind crust base.....there was this hill top authentic italian restaurant in Batam island which specialises in this kind of pizza some donkey eyars back...but I think the restaurant is gone now..yr pic brought back some fond memories..

    as for yr last para..best to keep away if possible..out of sight, out of mind, hopefully.

    As for the family thing, I guess after too many heartaches and disappointment, your mind naturally numbs out any feelings you've had for this person.. perhaps 'out of sight - out of mind' is the best way..both for you and your own family..

    you should get one! :-). I love its dough function because once you are used to it, you can just dump everything in it and do your own thing and 90 mins later (for my BM) it's nicely risen :-). It kneads the dough much much better than when I do it manually :-).
    The Italians really love their crusty base, don't they?
    Re the last para, I'm so glad I'm here....

    I guna resipi doughnut (nnt I letak resipi dia ye). Ataupun guna resipi bun manis yg ada telur and susu tepung dlm resipi nya. Then I timbang 25g utk each horn tu, pastu gelek dough tu sampai nipis mcm pencil and then balut around the acuan horn. Acuan ni I beli kat Bagus kat M'sia, 6 acuan for RM13.90. Pastu bakar dlm oven dgn acuan tu sekali. Nanti kalau I buat lagi, I buat step by step ye!

    You are right about the mind becoming numb after years of lies. That's why I'm glad I'm here far away from this toxic person but when I hear stories fr M'sia, I pity my family who still has to deal with this person because they were forced to... Sian kat diaorang, can't be away from it all like me :-(..

    I tak pernah buat sausage sendiri sbb tak tau nak beli casing tu kat mana. Kat Perth ni bnyk butchers halal jual sausages sedap2 and murah2 pulak tu, tu yg lagi senang beli :-).
    I guna resipi white bread biasa but I rasa sbb letak dlm BBQ tu yg jadikan dia betul2 crispy. Sbb I slalu buat pizza guna resipi yg sama tp bakar dlm oven and dia tak secrispy yg bakar dlm BBQ tu.
    Nanti I email u the white bread recipe ye.
