A popular OZ food

Every Sunday, I would normally bake something to take to the Sunday school for the kids to eat.

And I would normally bake it on Saturday nite o very early Sunday morning.

But since semalam I dah penat masak roast lamb and the choc pudding dessert, terus lah malas rasanya nak bake anything.

And this morning pun I was still a bit too malas to turn the oven on…

So, I ended up making a very famous Australian kids birthday party food.

Sepanjang2 I duduk Malaysia, tak pernah I tersua dengan this ‘delicacy’.

When we moved back here to OZ land with a kid in tow and got invited to kids birthday parties, baru lah I tau that this thing existed.

And adalah a few times when The Little Misses had their birthday parties when they were a bit younger, I made this ‘special’ food at their parties, hehehe.

And I occasionally would make them for their afternoon tea when they were small and they love them.

The kids would normally devour them with gusto while the adults cuma tengok aje sebab the adults memang tak berapa berkenan with that particular food.

Do you want to know what it is?

It’s fairy bread!

It’s basically slice white bread (it has to be white, can’t use any other bread styles). Then you have to cut the crusts off (sebab most kids love bread without crusts kan Smile). After that you have to butter the slices (I guess kalau you all slalu guna margerine, you can use it too but butter tastes way better). Then, sprinkle 100s&1000s (which are the coloured round things) on the bread making sure you cover the whole bread with them.

Then you can present them to the kiddos and watch them go ooh and aah….

Hahahahaha…

But tadi, I made another version of the fairy bread using nutella instead of butter. I don’t know what the right name for it though but definitely not fairy bread.

The young kids got googly eyed when they see all the 100s&1000s everywhere, hikhikhik.

kalau birthday party kat Msia, the kids dapat sardine roll lah, sausage in breadcrumb rolls lah, karipap goreng lah, popia lah…

Birthday parties kat sini dapat fairy bread..

Memang takde standard betul lah kan, hahahahaha…

But dinner yang I masak tadi adalah sikit ‘standard’ dia Winking smile

I made oven baked crumbed chicken with coleslaw, oven baked wedges and bread.

IMG_7259

I used cornflakes crumb for the coating. I have put the recipe before, kalau sape2 nak, cari kat ‘recipes’ shortcut tu ye.

Tiba2 terasa macam makan kfc pulak, heeeee….

P/S I will write down the recipe for the choc pudding tu but tunggu ye…

Nak jawab komen pun tak sempat lagi, tunggu jugak ye…..

They have good taste obviously sbb fairy bread ni bukannya sedap mana pun. I lagi suka kaya on bread, hehehe. Hubby I pun klu I bagi meatpies everyweek, happy giler dia!

Kak Kasih,
memang betul tu, slalunya Mak2 yg makan lebih2 kan. Anak2 sibuk main, tak ingat nak makan, hehehe.

Zuraida,
budak2 kan, apa aje yg colourful, sure diaorang terpikat :-)

Umi,
tak pernah jumpa ye? One day kalau your boys pergi jemputan birthday kat rumah their friends, sure akan jumpa :-)

athidean,
memang sgt2 cheap esp sbb guna white bread kan :-)

Pendragon,
memang kita ni kan suka buat benda2 yg simple2 aje kan. lagi simple, lagi suka kita nak buat, hehehe

Rima,
hahaha...I think asian kids and parents are so spoilt. Bila pergi birthday party, mesti expect makan sedap2 kan, bukan fairy bread, hikhikhik.
I made butterfly shaped fairy bread for Zahra's bday party a few years ago.

Dana,
memang simple abis kan! Yang I heran, budak2 suka sgt2 pulak tu, hahaha

Kak Watie,
sesuai utk Mak2 mcm I yg kdg2 malas nak fikir nak masak apa utk bawak pergi masjid utk bagi budak2 makan, hahaha

Nae,
hehehe :-)

Mulan,
Mak2 Mat Saleh ke yg bawak ke jamuan sekolah dulu2 tu? Nampak sgt Mak2 Mat Saleh ni sgt2 pemalas ny akan, hahaha

Alma,
Salam. Hahaha...memang dasar pemalas betul kan Mak2 Mat Saleh OZ ni ;-)

Keratosis,
isk isk isk...sampai hati kamu kutuk itu Mak Budak sbb bawak fairy bread aje, hahahaa
